Cornucopia of overflowing goodness (and I’ll share)

I’ve got a lot of stuff going on right now, and thought a post that brings them all together might be in order. First, Chapter one of The Undead Pool is at the website. I’m really excited about this release, so I’m happy chapter one is out so soon. Look for chapter two around December, February?, or if you can’t wait, it’s being tucked into the back of a lot of the e-books as they go on sale. You can sometimes see it in an existing e-book in your library by updating to the latest version, but you will lose your highlights and notes.

Click image to read The Undead Pool, or to go to the e-book on sale in U.S. markets. Dead Witch Walking and Holidays Are Hell might drop out ASAP, but they were on sale when I wrote this. (Quick like bunnies on fire!)

Ever After just hit the stands in mass market form, which means the e-book has dropped in price to the cost of the mass market. (U.S.) As a special thank you for those who waited, the Trent/Rachel short, TROUBLE ON RESEVE has been included in the back. This is the short originally released with the Sony reading app. It’s short enough you can stand in the aisle and read it if you already have a copy. Offering it in the back of a mass market was not my original intention, and I’m sorry if some of you are upset, but I lost the ability to offer it alone, and this is the best I can do.
Harper5bookSweepsThe first of two Harper Sweeps is still going on. The first five titles in the series are signed and will be sent to the winners along with whatever swag they might have about the office. This is going to run for a few more weeks, but don’t wait to the last moment.

EWWBDswagI’ll be having another 24 hour, flash give away myself on Monday, featuring Every Which Way but Dead, Into the Woods, and the Saladan poker chip freebie. Entry is really simple, and you can see what we did for GBU here. This has been really fun for me, and you don’t have to be taking part in the Hollows Read-along to take advantage of the chance to win some stuff!

GBUprizePackThe give-aways are part of the read along, where I’m reading the books along with those of you who do a re-read in prep for the new book–or to pick up readers who we lost along with a certain sexy hunk of vampire. I know it’s slow for some people, and too fast for others, but I’m taking about two weeks per book, and my give-aways mark the end of one and the beginning of the next. And again, you don’t have to be reading along with me to take part in the conversations going on here at the drama box, or over at Goodreads where the conversations are threaded and easy to find. We’re just finishing up Every Which Way but Dead.

gca_logo_nominee_smallUseAnd speaking of Goodreads! Ever After is a nominee in their reader choice awards! I am so jazzed about this as the readers are so very important to me, (even when we disagree over certain deaths or romantic paths.) There will be three tiers of voting, the first is going on now. I’ll let you know if Ever After makes it to the next round and you can vote again. Vote for EVER AFTER, vote for someone else, but vote. I’ve got a lot of friends in there, and it’s all good! (EVER AFTER is in the Paranormal Fantasy section.)

If you’ve never tried Goodreads, give it a go. I like it because everyone there loves books, and the reviews and conversations show it.

As for the tour this late February. We have the kick-off store settled. The rest should be coming in soon, and I’ll let you know when I do. But for now, there’s just the one at the Event’s Page.

TUPtourTOrders for Tour T’s are being taken for the pre-Christmas print run. We do these on demand in two print runs, so please don’t expect your shirt in 10 days. They aren’t even printed yet, but if you don’t order now, you won’t get one for Christmas. They come with a FV pin, as well. I really like them this year, but I say that every year. It features the graffiti Free Vampire symbol that comes into play in the book.

Phew! I’m sure I forgot something, but that’s it for now. And don’t forget. Monday. Flash give away. Right here.

The Good, The Bad, and The Undead Give-Away

Yay! What a contest this was! I’m still finding a lot of new posters leaving comments, so I hope everyone comes back for the next give-away November 11th. Everyone who posted yesterday and today has been unmoderated and included in the running. I’m generating random numbers right now for the winners and one runner up in case someone doesn’t respond back to me by Friday.  I’ll have a post later today with the winner names, but watch your email as I’ll be contacting you there first. Also, I’ve heard that not only has EVERY WHICH WAY BUT DEAD gone on sale for 1.99,(U.S. market e-book)  but FOR A FEW DEMONS MORE as well. And both should have chapter two of THE UNDEAD POOL  at the back. [my website has the first]

This has been a great give-away! Thanks for all your comments. 🙂

It’s the second of my give-aways in conjunction with the Hollows Read Along. I think GBU is still on sale today, or we might have clicked over to the next book on the list, Every Which Way but Dead. [click for links to multiple platforms]

To enter the contest for the prize pack, all you have to do is drop down to the comment box at the end of the page here and tell me when you figured out what Trent was. Before Rachel? The same time? What clued you in? (If you’ve not read the book, then tell me what you think of the cover.) Your post is your entry into the random drawing, so please comment only once–on your honor!

Prize pack contains a signed cover flat for Ever After, a hard cover copy of The Good, The Bad, and The Undead, a hard cover copy of Into the Woods, a bunny pin, bus token, and one of the very last of the handcuffs that Harper gave away for the original release. (very hard to find now) One of the prize packs will be getting a book club hard cover of GBU, the rest will be regular release.

GBUprizePack

Rules and Regs. I will open the page for comments Monday, 9:00 a.m. EST, and close it Tuesday 9:00 A.M. EST. I will then use a random number generator to choose the four winning comments.

PinAndTokenStuff to know before commenting:

Guy will ship overseas, so international is okay.

Chances of winning are dependent on how many enter.

My decision is final, even if you quibble over it.

I will contact the winners Tuesday afternoon using the email address they used to comment with, so please check it in the next day or so. If you don’t respond to me by email by Friday, I’m giving the prize pack to the runner up, also chosen by the random number generator.

Few other things since I’ve got your ear.

The first of Harper’s sweepstakes where they’re giving away signed copes of the first five books is still going on. Enter here.

HalloweenAnd I’m right in the middle of a Trick-or-Treat give-away that will take place on Halloween. I’m learning how to work a new app to sign e-books for when I go to RT, so you guys win out as Harper and I give away 31 signed e-books on Halloween. To put yourself in the running, follow the link and enter how you will. You don’t have to give up your friend list to enter through FB, and if even that makes you uncomfortable, there are other ways to enter. Harper is trying to build up my contact list with the readers, and this is a fun way to do it.  31 lucky people will get a free signed e-book, Ever After. [click image to go to contest]

GBUtI’m starting Every Which Way but Dead tonight. You can take part here at the drama box, or at Goodreads where the threads of conversation tend to hang around a little longer. [click image to go to goodreads]

Rachel, how foolish you were:GBU read-along to cp 14

Rachel, Rachel, Rachel . . . What the heck are you doing in that church? How foolish you seemed to be, making excused to stay in what looked like an abusive relationship. Everyone but you appeared to know what was going on, that Ivy was hunting you even as she didn’t want to. And yet you stayed even when she pinned you twice, even when you said no and she said yes. Making excuses, blaming yourself for her lapses of control: were you right that Ivy was an abused woman trying to escape a circle violence herself, or was Ivy lying even to herself as she pulled you down into the hell her life was?

From outside looking in, it seemed you were naive. Even I, while rereading it last night, was saying “Get out! You’re allowing yourself to be a victim!” And perhaps Rachel was. But perhaps . . . Rachel really was to blame. Perhaps Rachel knowingly pushed Ivy into loosing control. Perhaps, just perhaps, Rachel was manipulating Ivy. If it was a real relationship with real people, I’d say she was making a mistake, but it wasn’t. We’re talking vampires, and within the mythology of the books, Ivy is truly able to be manipulated with smell and vamp pheromones.

And what is it with Glenn and tomatoes? I’d forgotten about the stolen ketchup. But hey, once you’ve had Piscary’s pizza, it’s all downhill. 🙂

Piscary’s Pizza actually does have a real-world connection to me. Guy and I have made our own pizza for almost twenty years, beginning with making our own yeast dough, to cooking the pizza sauce and grating the cheese. Just how often we make pizza has shifted over the years, swelling to every Friday night for about five years when the boys were home and liked the same movies we did, waining when they began to get older and Guy and I found ourselves home alone on Friday, but the pizza stones are never hard to find. Oddly enough, we had pizza last night, and man, was it good. You do anything for over twenty years, and you’d better be good at it. -laugh-GBUmmCoverIS

Just as a reminder, GBU is still on sale for 1.99 in most U.S. markets, so if you’re taking part in the read-along or trying to get your buddy hooked, it’s relatively painless to make a gift of it. [multiple platform sale] Also, just found out that the latest version of it has chapter two of THE UNDEAD POOL in it. Dude!

TUPhcCoverA-a-a-a-and, Nicola’s has come through, and page to pre-order a signed-to-you-with-a-note-from-me is up. Just be sure to tell them in the comment box when you order who you want it signed to. International orders are okay, but email them for a shipping quote first. nicolasbooks@tds.net  [pre-order signed book]

Dead Witch Walking Give-Away

Phew! Contest is over, and everyone who posted has been unmoderated and included in the running. This was a lot of fun for me! Thank you, everyone who entered. We’ll be doing this again after we finish THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UNDEAD. (read along starts next Tuesday when GBU ebook goes on sale.)

I’ve given it a lot of thought on how to run the contest for the Dead Witch Walking prize packs, and to help keep it simple, all you have to do is drop down to the comment box at the end of the page and tell me in less than a sentence who surprised you most in Dead Witch Walking. (If you’ve not read the book, then tell me what you think of the cover.) Your post is your entry into the random drawing, so please comment only once–on your honor!

The prize packs are all the same except for one detail. Two of them have hard covers printed by Harper, two were printed by the Science Fiction Book Club. The rest of the prize pack: pin, token, cover flat, and hard cover of Into the Woods, are all the same. The first two numbers chosen from the random generator get the Harper copies, the last two will get the SFBC.

Outlaw Demon Wails e-book special

ODWhcCoverISApple is having a promotion for their 5 star average review books, which means THE OUTLAW DEMON WAILS is available for a special price of 2.99 until Monday.

I like Apple promotions because their books can be read on just about anything. So if you’re interested, jump on over and pick it up for yourself to round out your e-library, or a gift to someone else to get them hooked on the Hollows. THE OUTLAW DEMON WAILS is one of my favorites, and not bad for an introduction to Rachel, Ivy, Jenks, and the gang. 🙂

1.99 DEAD WITCH WALKING to promote THE UNDEAD POOL (2/25/14)

Dead Witch Walking 2004

Dead Witch Walking 2004

Yep! If you’ve not heard, we have a title and proposed publication of the next Hollows adventure, and it is THE UNDEAD POOL. To help celebrate the 2/24/14 publication, there will be a series of sales on the previous titles, and we’re going to start with DEAD WITCH WALKING, so today you can get it an electronic copy for 1.99 to either round out your library or gift to someone who you’ve been trying to get hooked on the Hollows. Best part? Most of them have apps so you can read it on your computer if you don’t have a device.

Bookblurb is leading out with DEAD WITCH WALKING today, but the rest will follow. Here’s the link to sign up to get access to their free and reduced books. They do this all the time: http://home.bookbub.com/home/

I just signed up today. No passwords! I love it! Easy peasy. I especially liked that all formats–nook, kindle, etc, were available right there on the same page if that’s what you set up for, and you can limit your genres to avoid a lot of inbox clutter, but seriously, most of the deals are free.

But in case you just want the DEAD WITCH WALKING:

Amazon Kindle

B&N

Kobo

ibooks

I honestly don’t know if this is US only. I’d try the Bookblurb link first as the others go to US sites.

Special holiday-e-book-price for FISTFUL OF CHARMS

Harper Voyager is continuing the tradition of making one of the earlier titles available for the temporary price of $1.99 for the holiday gift-giving season. It’s a very cool way to put something on that new device or round out your own library. This year, it is A FISTFUL OF CHARMS, and for a bonus, it includes the first two chapters of EVER AFTER. (You can read the first right now at the Harper blog. The second chapter will be out 12/25, and so on until we get to release day.)fistful

If you are signed up for my Author Tracker, you should have gotten this right in you inbox, but if not, I’ve got links for you here since the special-priced e-book doesn’t always pop up.

Barnes and Noble (NOOK)
Amazon (Kindle)
Books-A-Million (Nook?)
Kobo (Download options: Adobe DRM EPUB)
iBookstore (iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch)

Click to sign up for Author Tracker or my newsletter to get notices right to your inbox for chapter releases and such.  If you are using FB to receive information, the FB algorithm only sends posts to a fraction of subscribers based on current post likes and comments. I would suggest a backup source of info for the next few weeks, such as the drama box or the newsletter, if you don’t want to miss anything.

Harper Voyager’s slew of “How to write” e-books on sale

Harper Voyager has an e-book sale going on now in celebration of NaNoWriMo, which is, for those not in the know, National Novel Writing Month, where professional, intermediate, and just-picked-up-the-pen writers rub shoulders in a month-long event to reach 50,000 words in 30 days. This is the second year that I’ve officially joined in, signed up, and tracked my progress at their website, but I’ve known about NaNo for a lot longer.  You can find me here at NaNo, and it’s really helped this year as I push through the rough draft of book thirteen.

But I mentioned e-books! Yes, Harper Voyager has ten books on writing on sale for a limited time at a reduced price of under two dollars. If you write, you might want to check it out. I’ve long held that even though you can go to school to learn the craft of writing, it still remains one of the few careers that you don’t have to and still be a success if you put the time in and learn what you can from where you can get it.
