I think that this song portrays Rachel quite well. It must be how she feels after events in Pale Demon and those released chapters of Perfect Blood.

For Rachel, and I know these might be a little off the normal beaten path. Jimmy Buffet has a few I think work well for Rachel and her life.
“One Particular Harbor” a song about coming home to a safe port (Newt telling Rachel to think of Ivy and the love they share being a safe place to get home from the everafter).
“Love and Luck” is about dealing and overcoming obstacles with simply that some love from your friends and a bit of luck.
Lastly “Changing Channels” is all about a girl growing up and moving on with her life.
I have two that come to mind for Rachel, though they are diametrically opposed: “Otherside” by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and “My Confession” by Otep.
Actually, “My Confession” would work for Ivy, possibly better than for Rachel.

Ivy is more like the theme song of True Blood by Jace Everett. Elegant but scary. This song fits Pierce as well I think, but “Second Chance” by Shinedown is more like him.
Jenks is more like a funny type, but he is ironic. No Disney song could ever fit him though, rather “Moves like Jagger” or “Last Of The American Girs” by Green Day. Entertaining and strange.
If these books are going to be made movies, the director will get a hell of a job! ^^,

When Rachel is showing Glenn her house and he asks if she really sleeps in a church. She says yes and says that she does not however sleep with voodoo dolls. Glenn didn’t get it.

So I was listening to my Ipod yesterday, and I was surprised how many songs reminded me of “The Hollows”. The first one that popped up was “For Your Entertainment” by Adam Lambert. I’m not sure whether this would be an Al/Rachel or Al/Ceri (from “The Bespelled), or even a “seduction” song, but it makes me think of Al/Rachel and Al/Ceri:

I think that “weight of the world” and “Lose Control” are in relation to Rachel. in weight of the world its about feeling like you have too much on your shoulders to handle. And lose control i think relates to her because she can let go and throw caution to the wind and let go.

I have 3 songs. The first is from Tarja Turunnen and is named Winter Storm. I find this song fitting by Rachel and Ivy.
The second song is Elvenpath by Nightwish for Jenks.
The third is for Ivy: Ice Queen by Within Temptation.
I have read al 5 Books with all the emotions that I could haven and feel a connection from Me with Ivy and Rachel. They made me aware of the importans in my life of everything you have, not neccesearly material stuff, espacially emotional and spiritual things and the awarness of the Elf in my life.
I hope there will be more Books and thank You Kim and the caracters Rachel. Ivy and Jenks for everything.
I’ve got a couple of additions for Rachel that I surprisingly didn’t find yet.
1) “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera. This was a no-brainer. It plays at both her resilience and her evolution, as the lyrics say, as she toughens up to both worlds around her.
2) “Say You’ll Haunt Me” by Stone Sour. At first glance it would apply to Pierce, and I think that’s fair. But personally, I think it fits better with either Ivy or Al (in a more twisted way, but it’s still there). The destitution in Corey’s vocals plays at the plea in Rachel’s existence as her relationships fall apart, except those of Ivy and Al.
3) “Psychosocial” by Slipknot. The situations-and institutions-Rachel often finds herself in personifies the anger and aggression of this tune. Either it be on this plain of reality, or the ever-after, I can almost hear this being the theme song.
4) “More Human Than Human” by Rob Zombie. I guess this one can also go under the the Vampiric Charms playlist, but Rachel is the one who exemplifies it the best. The moral of the song is that it does’t matter how scary or frightening I am or have become, I’m still a better person than you.
5) “Demonoid Phenomenon” by Rob Zombie. I think the title speaks for itself; Rachel knows she’s somewhere between demon and witch and no one can tell her what. Listen to this song and you can almost hear what goes through her head whenever Al, or Nick, or Ivy, or Jenks brings up the subject.
6) “Wanna Be Loved” by Papa Roach. Again, the title speaks for itself. It seems that no matter how hard Rachel tries she always ends up losing her boyfriends. All she wants is the respect she deserves for her natural-born skills, who she is.
That’s all I got for now. It’s getting harder and harder to come up with stuff that hasn’t already been said-a good problem to have.

Especially “Honey, I’m Home”, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman”, “Up”, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good”, “Any man of Mine” and “Love Gets Me Every Time.” “Don’t Be Stupid” reminds me in a funny way of Rachel’s thoughts on Ivy.

Without a doubt, I always thought of Florence and the machine’s “Rabbit Heart” when I think of Rachel (esp her more difficult relationships), even though it’s not exactly something I’d picture her listening to. Odd choice, I suppose, but there’s something both kick-ass and simultaneously essentially feminine about this song. And the lead singer of the group in this vid has fabulous red hair that reminds me a bit of Rachel. 🙂

For Rachel and Cincy in general, I hear a lot of Asphalt Ballet’s self-titled album. None of their other albums, just that one. It’s blue-sy metal, unapologetic, kick-in-your-teeth music. Try the track “Soul Survive”.
I always hear “Paranoiattack” by the Faint go through my head when Rachel goes out on an investigation.
Actually, I often think of music by the Faint when reading the Hollow books, for instance, “I Disappear” for Ivy can represent the struggle Ivy goes through between her vampire instincts and blood urges and that of her still intact soul…”I disappear, I lost control, My body’s moving, On it’s own. I watch myself, Walk away, A poor spirit, took my place.”
I have so many songs I think of but I will keep it to just one more. “Alright” by Supergrass best represents Jenk’s kids for me.

I think a great song for Rachel is Headstrong by Trapt. Every time I hear the lryics “Headtstrong I’ll take you on, Headstrong I’ll take on anyone” I get this mental picture of Rachel in my head. I think the song captures her dive to keep going forward and her unwillingness to give up.
I think a really fitting song for Ivy and Rachel’s relationship is Muse song Undisclosed Desires. The Lyrics are perfect for it in my opinion =)

Morgan has it right, Building a Mystery by Sarah McLaughlan is PERFECT. As a matter of fact, I’m re-reading this series, this time I am listening on audio cd. In the second book where Rachel takes Dennon to her home for the firs time he says, “You live in a church?” and Rachel replies, “Yeah, but I don’t sleep with voodoo dolls.” I almost fell out when I realized these were the lyrics to Building a Mystery! I think I missed it when I read it the first time. I need to hear it spoken to get it.

After the run from Makinac was done and they all retruned back home to the church….Kisten and Ivy Both had a discussion about the blood passion they each wish to share with Rachel. Well one of the songs by my favorite German Band named *Beatsteaks* is *~ Demons Galore ~* first you think of Big Al just because of the song name but if you listened to it you also think of the relationship between Rachel and Trent so far ” This is mine it will never be yours, stay away from what i love, cause it’s the only thing i’ve got, won’t stick to those i can not trust…” God, I just love the way both of them act like kids in first grade when it comes to each other!
