Week 5 ARC giveaway: If I lived in the Hollows…

***** UPDATE 5/11/21 ***** We have a winner for the fifth of ten ARC giveaways. Jason L. was lucky number 228 out of nearly 1000 entries, and he has already e-mailed me back to claim his ARC and freebie! Come back Friday for a new question to answer to enter the next giveaway! Congratulations, Jason! And thank you everyone who played along.

I will admit it. I have sat in an airport, watching people go by, saying, “Were. Elf. Demon,” categorizing the passing people into their Inderland houses, so to speak. Which makes me wonder, if you lived in the Hollows, who would you be? Charismatic, secretive elf? All powerful but emotionally damaged demon? Perhaps a rock-steady, magic-wise witch? Or a pack-loving Were? Bridge troll, anyone? Or perhaps a jack-of-all-trades human?

Only Available At Nicolas.

And because I like giving things away, if you email Tim your answer, you will be in the flash-giveaway for the next  ARC of Million Dollar Demon.  Want to enter? Here’s how this week!

Using an email you have access to for the next five days, email Tim at <coldtoastwritingsllc@comcast.net>  Put “Hollows House” in the subject line so we know you’re entering the contest. In the email, tell me who you would be if you lived in the Hollows. (Tell me why here as well to help boost shares and get you some bonus points–which get you nothing except the chance to brag about your Inderlander skills.) One entry per household please.

I will cut off entries at midnight, PST on Monday, May 10. I will announce the winner on Tuesday morning, AND email them for the address they want me to mail the ARC to as well as find out if and how they want me to sign it.  Winners will have until the coming Thursday midnight to get back to me to claim the ARC and tell me their mailing address. If I don’t hear from you by Thursday midnight, the ARC goes back in the pool and I will give away two next week.

Out of the U.S? You can still enter. ARCs have no cash value, though they may get held up in customs forever. Books will go out UPS or USPS, whatever is faster. Chance of winning depends upon how many enter. Winners will be chosen by a random number generator, and I can’t be responsible for mail that goes astray.

That’s it. But do come back next Friday to enter again with a new question. I’ve got a bunch of these to give away until release day on June 15th. Even better, I finally got the ARCS from the publishers, and they are real, bound galleys that we’re used to. This is an extremely limited print run due to covid, and I’m so thankful to have them to give out to you.

Good luck!

P.S. My local store, Nicolas, is the only outlet for personalized MILLION DOLLAR DEMON this year. They will ship overseas, but email them first for a shipping quote. (follow the link below.) Nicolas also has signed mass markets of AMERICAN DEMON along with most of the other back titles. Mysterious Galaxy, Murder by the Book, and University bookstore will have beautiful, signed book plates.

An elf… pointy ears run in my family.

  2. Janine Diaz

When I first started the series, I thought Rachel was so badass and wanted to be a witch so bad. However, I can’t keep a garden alive to save my life and follow directions for a recipe (spell) is somehow too difficult. I’m fine with being a boring old human. I can nail that at least

  3. Gwen

I seem to never receive the email notifications of the winners. Are they only announced on the blog? Am I missing something?
I check both my inbox and my junk mail folder!

    • They are announced here at the blog as an update, and on FB and twitter. I do not send out emails to the 900+ entrants as to who won. I think my service provider would label me a spammer.

  4. Betsy stewart

i did not follow the instructions for the email but i would definitely be a witch Betsu Stewart

  5. Jennifer Calhoun

    I would be a pixie..🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️

  6. Kseniya

My childhood dream of being an elf in an interesting world setting is ever-present so of course, my choice is to join elves and their sly secrecy!

  7. Kimberly Mugno

Jenks, I love his determination and that size does not stop him

  8. Chris

The Inderland’s official childcare provider! Serving the needs of all our kids and parents since The Turn. Does work have you running off to nab those pesky demon summoners out in the burbs? Did the full moon leave you spent? Are you too sugared to play dress up with the littles? Drop little Susie off any time day or night and we will tend to their needs for you.

  9. Roberto Beaupré

A dragon 🐉 polymorphed to look like an elf 🧝 to discreetly influence politics and communities towards environmental goals.

  10. Tim Powers

I would be the purveyor of the charm shop, mainly so that I could see Rachel more. 😝

  11. Mary jackelen

While all of the choices are enticing, I have to admit I am (would be) a jack-of-all trades human. I don’t particularly like tomatoes…

  12. Mary Brackett

I would definitely be a witch. 1) I have similar allergies to Rachel (sulphur, how many people out there don’t realize it’s a real thing?!). 2) I have mad cooking skills like Rachel. And 3) I can’t pass by a “magic” shop without oohing and ahhing over crystals and herbs and whatnot. I also like to stand up for the little guy and get rid of the bullies, who’ve often called me a witch (or possibly something that rhymes with witch, I don’t pay that much attention to them).

  14. Lexi

My first choice would be a demon-born witch, and my second would be an elf.

  15. Jennifer Dallaire

Were Bear all the way. Loyal to family and fiercely protective. Can be a loner and spends hours in the woods.

  16. Angie Coe

I would be a pack loving were. I’m the youngest out of 8 so I’m comfortable in packs lol

  17. Jen miescher

I would be a Were. Something a iI the pack life appeals to me. I’ve emailed as well.

Loved American Demon and now diving into Cursed Luck. Thanks for the opportunity

  18. Katrina Coe

I think I would be a witch or Elf big thing I would not be is a snob(looking down on other groups)

    Katrina Coe

  19. Joslynn

I’d be a were. I’m all about family and pack plus I’m an alpha B***h.

  20. I would be a pixie. At 4 ft 11, I’m little but mighty

  21. Tiffany

I’d probably be a new kind of demon like Rachel. I have her same type of weird bad good luck. Red wine gives me headaches. I have weird allergies like paprika.Seriously, if the other sports moms are witches, the way they shun me would be equivalent to her interactions with other witches. I’m nice to everyone, I am quick to defend those in need or wronged. I’m intensely loyal. Do NOT mess with my daughters. Yup I’m a Rosewood demon.

  22. If I lived in the Hollows, my inderland house would be the gargoyles. The powerful connection gargoyles have to ley lines and their ability to travel makes them so exciting, but most importantly I love the fact that they can form a deep bond to a witch or demon and the impact it has on their auros and lives. This bond adds so much to the gargoyle and witch/demon, it’s a truly symbiotic loving partnership! Plus, I’d probably enjoy spitting on passersby with Bis!

  23. Megan Dotter

If I lived in the Hollows I think I would either be a Witch with my love of Wicca or maybe even a Pixy with my love of the Garden… it is very hard to choose.

  24. Vanessa

I would be a Ley Line Witch, who is unspeakably bad at doing anything Earth Witch related. I’m talking have-to-get-my-potion-capable-witch-friends-to-make-my-pain-amulets bad. Or even, so bad I forgot to not use wooden stirring implements in my spell pot and accidentally paralyzed myself for 2 days, bad.

But I’d be phenomenal at Ley Line magic. As long as I’m not over water, or wearing charmed silver!

  25. Brandy Bennett

Hard to pick one lol but I would go with Leprechaun! I’m short have Irish in me and like to make people happy. (For the most part) 😜 I also love coffee so could definitely hang at Marks all day!

  26. Trish

Definitely a dryad, totally consumed by my sole purpose in life.

  27. Renita Flowers

I would definitely be a Witch! I Love Rachel and the way she collects/ attracts and protects friends! That’s pretty magical❤

  28. Based on build alone, I would have to be a gnome of some sort. (Did I mention I am built like a fire plug?) I haven’t seen any gnome characters so far in the series so maybe I would be a bridge troll? I don’t like bridges so maybe I would be a bridge troll with a phobia about crossing bridges. I could be a were but I would not live long among the pack. I have a big mouth and tend to shoot it off on a regular basis. I don’t play well with alphas so yeah, dead were. It would be great fun to be a witch. I look more like Cinderella’s fairy godmother but I think I have the attitude to pull off a witch.

  29. Anna

That’s a difficult decision for me because my first choice would be a dragon, even though there is none in this series. My second choice would be demon because I love being the power aspect of that house. So for this series my house would be demon!

  30. Cheryl ann

Vamp!!!! I want to smell like incense!!!

  31. Carrie Benes

A pixy! I’m small but fierce!

  32. Wendy Negron

I would be a witch. My friends at work call me The Winter Witch!!

  33. Diane G

An elf… pointy ears run in my family.

  34. Freida

I’d want to be a witch, just like Rachel. I would hope to inspire the same devotion (just maybe not the same chaos!) that she does. Of course, the power is neat, but I like the ability to help others, and to stand up for myself, even when feeling a bit outnumbered.

  35. Heidi

    I would be a witch 100%

  36. Thomas Lake

I sent my email, I said demon, but pretty sure I could be a demon bridge troll.. lol

  37. Rune O'Flynne

Who wouldn’t want to be? A gargoyle of course.
