Enter the AMERICAN DEMON ARC give-away

** UPDATE** Amber has won and claimed the first ARC. Come back every Tuesday April and May for a chance to win another.

Hi all.

I’m giving away an ARC of AMERICAN DEMON every Tuesday from now until June. Here’s how you enter!

Using an email you have access to for the next five days, email Tim at <coldtoastwritingsllc@comcast.net>  Put “Favorite feel-good movie” in the subject line so we know you’re entering the contest. In the email, tell me your favorite feel-good movie! (You can also share it here for bonus points–which get you nothing except the chance to brag about your fav movie.) One entry per household please.

I will cut off entries at midnight, PST on Wednesday, April first. I will announce the winner on Thursday morning, AND email them back for the address where they want me to mail the ARC to as well as find out if and how they want me to sign it.  Winners will have until that Friday midnight to get back to me to claim the ARC and tell me their mailing address. If I don’t hear from you by Friday midnight, the ARC goes back in the pool and I will give away two next week.

Out of the U.S? You can still enter. ARCs have no cash value, though they may get held up in customs forever. Books will go out USPS. Chance of winning depends upon how many enter. Winners will be chosen by a random number generator, and I can’t be responsible for mail that goes astray.

That’s it. Apart from coming  back next Tuesday to enter again with a new question! I’ve got a bunch of these to give away.

And good luck!

If you want to skip the chaos and pre-order, I have a list of my favorite stores that I’ve signed at. If you like your local store where they are, please consider ordering online from them. Not just my book, but any book. Buy books local is working. Powells has re-hired 100 of their employees back to handle internet sales.

I love the series would love for Netflix to turn it into series/movies, I’ve listen to it on audible 3 since 2012 and going for my 4th one this time with my fiancée to get to American demon. We just got to “For a few demons more” and was wondering what Newt was looking for at the begging, I think it was the focus but I can’t remember if it was ever mentioned.

    Thank you

    Practical Magic

  4. Bridget Curry

Kinda different but mine is Forest Gump. It always makes me laugh. I do like Practical Magic but when Forest finds himself in all those historic circumstances it just makes me laugh. I’m amazed he wasn’t in the book repository.

I would have to say my favorite feel good movie would have to be…. it’s a tie between Kung Pow and Rat Race. These 2 are my all time favorite movies and I can resite all the words too! Their good humor, and just all around entertaining.  Check them out if you hadn’t already!. They both have a good story line! (Rat race more so than  kung pow (it’s a spoof of an older kung foo movie that was revised lol makes me laugh just thinking about it!!)

  18. John A Sillasen

Favorite feel good movie? Wonder Woman.

    • John A Sillasen

Actually, I have to amend that. I own Wonder Woman and look forward to Wonder Woman 1984 to the point of watching Easter eggs in YouTube videos about it but favorite feel good? Seriously its Captain Marvel! Saw it at the box office literally 10 times. Went in to the early matinee and Tuesday $5 specials just to see it again..bought the movie and yes, I still watch it on Disney Plus!

My favorite feel good movie is The Blindside.

  24. Juli

My favorite feel-good movie has to be Amelie! It was also the first foreign film I ever watched. It blew my mind when I watched it for the first time.
I don’t know if I have ever been so in love with another movie as I am with Amelie.

  25. Heather

Thanks for the contest!!! I would have to go with Despicable Me 2. Love the Minions – it’s goofy and fun!!! ~Indy

  26. Tim Powers

This is a tough question as there are many. Ghost, Muppets Christmas Carol, and Phenomenon are right up there, but given the time of year I need to say Field of Dreams. I cry every time at the end when he asks his dad “want to have a catch?” Ever since seeing that back in 1989 (my kids were 5&3) I ALWAYS said yes to that question.

  27. Nancy Coleman Galdeano

Practical Magic, because it supports my belief that magic is real and in today’s world we need all the magic we can get.

  28. CeCe Sickler

Pride and Prejudice by far wins as my favorite feel-good movie! Any edition but the BBC’s is my absolute favorite.

  29. Erika

One of my goals when I head to Seattle to visit my daughter this August is to get to Powell’s Bookstore while she and I are touring the PNW. I will absolutely be getting a t-shirt and some books there to mark the occasion and to support them!

  30. Lori

What a fun way to do a contest! The Princess Bride! Thanks Kim!

  31. Jennifer

The movie Now and Then has to be one of my all time favorite movies!

  32. Drago

Favorite feel good movie would be a toss up between “Young Frankenstein” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” but if pressed I’d probably go with “Young Frankenstein”.

  33. Susan Blakeney

Well, I don’t really run along the lines of happy movies as a rule, but the first movie that came to mind that does make me happy is Practical Magic 🙂

  34. Stacy Lynn

Thanks for the opportunity Kim! I love 50 First Dates… I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen it.. but it makes me laugh and smile every time. No matter how bad the day was.

  35. My favorite feel good movie is “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
    Generally I like a Rom-com when I need a pick me up.

This particular movie has the perfect verbal sparring and sarcasm between the main protagonist. And in between there are sweet moments that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

  36. My favorite feel-good movie is the second Jumanji. It’s the first movie I’ve ever seen twice in theaters, it was that good. I’ve never laughed more, and what better way to feel good than by laughing!

  37. K Cure

This is so exciting! Thank you for giving us the chance to win!

  38. Deborah

If e-books and Audible could wear out mine would be toast! Kim’s writing have the ebb and flow I enjoy in books, she’s one of my favorite writers! I would be honored if I won her new book American Demon!

  39. Amy Kidneigh

Oh my gosh thank you for the opportunity !!!

  40. Annette

While You Were Sleeping – I love Lucy and Jack forever and who doesn’t love a good heroine?

  41. Christopher

Favorite Feel Good movie is Ground Hog Day…

In today’s harsh reality it would be nice to go back and re-live one of my happier days over and over again, and then hopefully at the end wake up and have this Corona nightmare over!! For now, will just live in the joy of watching Bill Murray find his true happiness and laugh uncontrollably every step of the way!!

  42. Sherri

Thank you for a chance of winning an ARC for American Demon! I cannot wait to read this book!!!

My favorite feel-good movie is Legend. I was born in 1986 so it’s perfect since it came out that year. Life has not always been easy, or kind, so I gravitate to books and movies that make me escape reality for a while. I tend to forget that it is Tom Cruise is the male lead in this movie. Instead I focus on the Darkness being played by the clever Tim Curry and all of the awesome mystical creatures that you see throughout.

The movie starts out with a blossoming romance and turns into adventure very quickly when Darkness has the horn of a unicorn stolen. Without that horn being replaced to the unicorn Darkness will overrun the world. Adventure and fun characters make this movie a must see! There are moments when you forget to breathe and keep you on the edge of your seat. If you love fantasy then you must give this movie a chance. I will not say too much to give it away… but I absolutely adore this movie. ❤️

  43. Heidi K D

    The Labyrinth is my feel good movie. :}

  44. Courtney brown

Thank you so much for the chance to win an Arc! I love Rachel, Ivy and the rest of the gang in the Hollows, and I’m so excited for American Demon. The cover is beautiful! My favourite feel-good movie is Mary Poppins – by the time “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” comes on at the end, you can’t help but feel cheerful! Plus the scene with the penguin waiters always makes me laugh 🙂

  48. My favorite feel good movie is Grown Ups, it’s an Adam Sandler movie about all of him and his child hood friends coming back together again because their childhood basketball coach died. Adam Sandler plays a rich agent and his wife is a high end fashion designer and he has 3 kids that are unfortunately very spoiled and he wants them to know what it’s like to have fun like he did when he was a kid, so when they all go back for the coach’s funeral he instead of the trip to Milan for his wife’s fashion show, he rents the lake house for all of his friends and their families and his family behind his wife’s back and she thinks it’s only for the night. It turns into a fun filled weekend where the kids learn to be kids again and his wife and Adam realize that they have been putting their work life ahead of everything else and so do their friends and their families. It also centers around a basketball game that they had as kids and it shows how it affected the other teams lives that lost and when Adam Sandler sees how it affected the one and they ask for a rematch they do. During the game he see how the guys wife treats him like a loser because of it and so he makes a decision during this game to miss a shot he never misses to help this guy because he knows that his life is pretty great with all his friends and family and if he can give this guy this one thing in life that maybe, just maybe it will help his life a little bit. This movie is so much more, but it’s about friends and family and love and about how people just get it and see the love that a group of friends have had their whole lives and it just makes you feel good to see them stand up for each other and to have each others back after all these years through everything and then to share this with their kids in the hopes that they will have the same friendships that they do and in the sequel, which in my opinion is just as good, it shows, that these friendships with the kids are growing just as much.
Well that’s my feel good movie, I could go on because I have watched it over and over again with my daughter and her father, my common law husband of 14 years this year, but it’s better if you watch it yourself to get all the happy feels ❤
