First piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

Thank you everyone who entered today’s give away. I’ve closed the comments and am randomly choosing the five winners of the prize packs. They will get an email from me yet tonight, and they have 24 hours to get back to me with a U.S. address. If any prize packs go unclaimed, I will re-award them on Monday the 28th. Don’t worry if you didn’t win today. I’ll be doing this again tomorrow along with showing a second piece of the Witch With No Name cover.

Phew! It’s Monday! And I’ve got the first piece of The Witch With no Name‘s cover! As you can see, we’re doing something very different, color-wise, with a mostly white background. I’ll tell you why when we have a few more pieces.

part1

I’m thinking this is going to be one of my favorite covers. It’s all silver and goldish!

As if the cover wasn’t fun enough, I’m also giving away five prize packs today, each with an Ever After tour shirt (I don’t know the size. It’s free!) a cover flat of Ever After’s mass market, and a signed ARC (advanced reader copy) of Holidays are Hell. Guy is probably going to slip a bunny pin, coat tag freebie, and bus token in there too.

MondayTo have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) just drop down to the comment box, and tell me in one post, what book you started reading the Hollows with. Was it Dead Witch Walking, or did you get started in the middle and have to go back and begin from the beginning? Or you can just tell me what you think of the new cover piece. Please, just one post here today as your post is your entry into the contest.

I will close the comments tonight at 9:00 P.M. EST, then randomly choose and email the winners right then. They will have 24 hours to get back to me with a U.S. address to claim their prize pack. If a prize pack goes unclaimed, it will go into the second-chance pot, which will be awarded on the 28th, the 10th anniversary of Dead Witch WalkingΒ and the massive Manic Monday I’ve got planned. Β (You can enter this second-chance giveaway any time this week, only once though, please. Click here to go to entry post for second-chance giveaways.)

So to recap, to enter for today’s give away, tell me here what book you started reading the series with, then jump over to the second-chance giveaway page to enter for the, ah, second-chance giveaway. πŸ™‚ And good luck! I’ll email the winners tonight around 9:30, EST.

If you don’t win today, I’ll be doing this again tomorrow when I reveal a second piece of the cover.

I started with dead witch walking on audible. I have all your books on audio there awesome.

  2. Teddy Adam Byrd

started reading “this witch for hire”, a collection of the first two novels πŸ™‚

  3. I don’t recall which one I read first, but I do recall that I bought the first 3 at the same time. I was a (very) lonely housewife, with 2 babies, and I needed a mental escape. I found your books on the shelf, and was immediately hooked. Of the more than 300 books, and various series I have encountered since then, The Hallows & Ever After is still my favorite place to disappear into. And the ONLY series I refuse to read on my Kindle. It MUST be a hand-help-page-turning-book I can smell and get paper cuts from while I sip my tea.
Everything must come to an end … but I will never stop reading them.

  4. Christy

I started the series with Dead Witch Walking and before I was finished I had found the next three books at a local book exchange because I couldn’t wait to read them. I absolutely love being a part of the story. Thank you for giving us such a gift.

  5. Heather Bird

Dead Witch Walking… Love the series so much upon traveling, had to find the nearest Barnes and Noble in Green Bay WI. (I’m from Kansas City), so I could pick up White Witch Black Curse so I could keep reading the series.(it was just released that week) So sad to see it end.. but thank you for writing these books!

  6. Ruth S

I started at the beginning with Dead Witch Walking.

  7. Let’s see, the first book I started with was indeed Dead Witch Walking, because I was browsing my mom’s bookcase and she had the first three, and I admit, I’m a bit OCD so I looked to see which was first. Then I read all three of them in one day, and went to the bookstore the next day and bought my own copies and the next two. πŸ™‚ I really like the cover so far, can’t wait to see more, and find out the secret of why it’s so white and golden. I would love to win anything you’d like to give away, Kim and thank you for the excellent reading material over the years.

It all started with a rainy day down the Jersey shore. I went to the bookstore looking for a book to read and I came across Dead Witch Walking..and I’ve been a fan ever since!

  9. Karla Crosby

    Dead witch walking

  10. Ken

It was Dead Witch Walking and I’ve been a fan ever since πŸ™‚

    Hi Kim:

I think the first Rachel Morgan book I read was A Fistful of Charms. It came from the Science Fiction Book Club as a main selection. I tried it even though I had not ordered it, and LOVED it. I tell everyone I know who is interested in fantasy and science fiction (which is a lot) to try your books. I have bought and read every book since. In fact, I just finished “Into the Woods”. I borrowed it through the library, so now I am going to have to find it and buy it.

But did you have to name it “A Witch With No Name”? Now I can’t get America’s “A Horse With No Name” out of my head!

I really look forward to seeing what happens at the end of the series. I have a bet with a friend what happens (a steak dinner). I will be sad to see it end, though. Since so many of my favorite authors are dead, you are just about the only living author I care enough about to buy every time.

  12. I started with Dead Witch Walking and was lucky enough to be able to read straight through to A Few Demons More. I was hooked from the beginning and hooked my nephew and my sister. I hate to see it end, but I am looking forward to what exciting story is to come next after this one. πŸ™‚

  13. I started with Dead Witch Walking, and have been a fan ever since. I have now shared the books with every kick-@ss girl I know, and they have all loved them too!

  14. Diana L.

I started with Dead Witch Walking so long ago I can’t remember when I picked it up. I think it was after I had read Patricia Briggs and was desperate to find another series that was good enough to read over and over. Thank goodness I found it!

  15. Melanie M.

Dead Witch Walking. But there were already 5 or 6 books out when I discovered it. Suffice to say I didn’t have to think about what I was going to read for a while πŸ™‚ …and then was ‘when does the next book come out again?’

  16. shannon stairs

I read For a Few Demons More first..not knowing right away that it was like the middle of a series then got so into it I got the first and have been hooked ever since..it would make for one badass tv series or way better than the twilight movie franchise πŸ™‚

  17. My brother-in-law and I share reading interests. He had pb of DWW and loaned it to me. Loved. It. (Gotta red headed Rachel myself.)

  18. Carla

I started with Every Witch Way But Dead many years ago. Went back and special ordered the others. Then had to wait for Fistful of Charms. Since then, I’ve read them all, some more than once, and got my significant other hooked. Really sad that this wild, crazy ride is coming to an end. 😦

  19. moonbeam0806

First I want to say that there were so many comments, it would not even give me the option to reply from the WordPress App on my Ipad. Thank you for keeping it open until 2100!

I actually started with Every Which Way But Dead. My mom had read it when they had no power after a hurricane and she mailed it to me saying i would like it. Needless to say, I loved it and went back and started from the beginning! I am sad to see it ending 😦

  21. Pamela Stevenson

  22. Becky C

  23. Karine Allard

Dead Witch Walking. And then I was horrified that I had to wait so long for the rest to come out! I was hooked from day one!

  24. cryssT

Dead Witch Walking was the first book that I read of yours.

  25. stacy and savannah earl

I started with Dead Witch Walking and once my daughter hit her teenage years started her on the series as well.

  26. Hey Kimmie….For me I started the book series in the middle but unbeknownst to me i was not aware that it was a series. It was you that really started my love for urban fantasy/paranormal romance. Thanks to your eye catching covers which piqued my interest into what the book could be about caused me to order it from an online book club that offered no description of what the book was about. I was about halfway into reading “For a few demons more” and i kept saying what is this turn they keep referencing and who is Kisten but I kept reading and then i decided to google you and see if i missed a book that would have filled in the gaps only to discover that there were about five or six. I immediately stopped reading and headed to my local book store and bough the ones i needed and started from the beginning and i have loved every moment. Actually pretty sad that its ending but i am sure that the next one will be great too.

  27. Michelle Kennedy

I started with Dead Witch Walking and have been hooked ever since. I own every book and plan to reread them from beginning to end once I have the final book but it will be bittersweet to see the series end.

  28. Susan

I started February 1, 2014 with Dead Witch Walking…only the graphic novels and Insider yet to read!!

  29. A co-worker had given me Dead Witch Walking as well as the following few books. After reading just the first chapter, I was immediately hooked. I had to go up to the library to be able to read the rest of them. I absolutely love this series Kim. I give you much kudos for creating such an addictive, powerful, & mind captivating series!
Btw, I love the new cover! I can’t wait until it gets released, as sad as it is, being the last of the series & all. I am excited to be able to get the box set when it’s released so I’ll be able to read them over, & over.

    πŸ˜€

  38. I started with Dead Witch Walking. I had just gotten a nook. I was looking for my first book to buy and Barnes and Noble recommended it to me!!

  39. I started later in the series, with Black Magic Sanction I think. I needed something to listen during a small road trip and it appeared the most interesting at the library. Sad that it’s coming to an end but also eager for its resolution ^_^

  40. Charissa Eichman

I started with Dead Witch Walking. Great series, sad to see it end, but completely understand why.

  41. Caitlin V.

I actually have a friend who read the series first, and she loaned me Dead Witch Walking, and I haven’t looked back since. I think the first 4 or 5 books were out by that point, which is why I own the first 5 in paperback and everything else is hardback…I couldn’t wait for the paperback release to read it πŸ™‚

  42. Mackenzie Unger

Three years ago, I was browsing around Barns and Noble in the horror section when I came across Dead Witch Walking. I’ve been reading them and sharing them with my friends now and so excited for The Witch With No Name!!! πŸ™‚

  43. Dead Witch Walking and I’ve been hooked ever since! I really love this series and hate to say goodbye to Rachel! I’m sure the next series will be fabulous as well:)

  44. I started with the 1st book Dead Witch Walking after several recommendations from friends.

  45. The book I read first was “Dead Witch Walking” (I like to read books in order). I enjoyed it and continued on from there.

  46. Cherie StClair

My husband gave me a Kindle for Christmas in 2009 and I found Dead Witch Walking available as a free Kindle book and I was hooked. I bought all that were out at the time for my Kindle. The next Christmas he gave me a Nook so I had to buy them all for that device so I have 3 copies of each book, Kindle, Nook and paper.

  47. Kelly Collins

I started with Dead Witch Walking. The similar titles it Eastwood movies intrigued me and I’ve been a fan since the first book.

  48. CheyEnne

I started with the first book too. Most awesome.

  49. Audrey

The cover is looking pretty amazing. A break away from the normal, dark, haunting background is very fitting for the last book I think.

My sister in law got me hooked with Dead Witch Walking. I think you were starting on book 4 at the time, and I read the first three over a weekend. I couldn’t put them down. She was in love with the series, but she passed away last year. I’m heartbroken she won’t get to read the last book, but I’m really looking forward to it. I adore this series, and Rachel is one of my very favorite characters.

  50. Vici Teace

I started w Black Magic Sanction, and had to read back. πŸ™‚

  53. Krista Harris

    • Laura M Kelly

Black Magic Sanction. Looking forward to reading books before this one. Have read all afterwards.

  54. I started with Dead Witch Walking. I have re-read the series three times!

  55. Heather Hudson

Started reading when Dead Witch Walking was paperback only. I was on vacation and for some reason the cover captured my attention, and I haven’t stopped reading since! Thank you for a wonderful journey.

  56. Started with Dead Witch Walking and loved it! Couldn’t put it down. Went in order from there. I’ll be sitting there reading and I’ll read something that Jenks says and bust out laughing. I got several friends and family (male and female) to read them and they all love this series.

  57. Brian Pawlowski

I started with Dead Witch Walking

  58. Michelle

I started with Dead Witch Walking. I quickly read the next three books after that. I’ve waited in agony until each book came out. I can’t believe this is the end of the series already!

  59. Dead Witch Walking. I have got a few people hooked on the series by recommending this book.

  60. I started with Dead Witch Walking through Audible. My mom actually talked me into listening to the book. The first time I pressed play I did not really like the narrator. So, I listened for 15 mins and then turned it off. After this being the only book I had left to read a month later, I thought I would give it another go. I am glad I did!!! Now, (after listening to the whole series twice) I can’t imagine Rachel as another voice and I began setting up reminders for your book releases. Love all the characters and I am sad the series will be over soon.

  61. Amanda Hudson

So far the cover looks great!!! I started this series from the beginning and I hate to see it end but I’ve loved the journey!

  62. Tania Cole

    Dead Witch Walking

  63. Laura Vogel

I started with Dead Witch Walking after reading a write up on my local library’s website.

  64. I was late to the table as you already had the first five books out when I started but I did start with Dead Witch Walking (and read up to A Few Demons more in less then two weeks lol). I am sad to see the end in sight but excited as well. Thank you for creating a great party, moving it at a good pace and leaving before the welcome wears out. I am grateful you had a plan, grew the characters and will give them the ending they deserve ❀ p.s. cannot wait for the new series either!!

  65. nusseym

I bought ‘For A Few Demons More’ and realized it was the fifth book, so I had to go back and buy the first one.

  79. sugarpaws81

I started with Dead Witch Walking. It was recommended by someone on Facebook, so I went to check it out. So glad I did!!

  80. Sue Pulsipher

I began with Dead Witch Walking. Loved it. Read through the whole series several times now.

  81. I started with Every Which Way but Dead. I didn’t know where it fell in the series and thought it was first. I thought that I was missing something, but it took me some time to go back to the series beginning. I only gave it two stars on GoodReads. If I had started with the first book, I probably would have rated it higher.

The book that totally hooked me was A Fistful of Charms. Once I read that one, there was no going back. Funnily enough, The Dresden Files didn’t hook me until the 4th book either.

  82. I started at the beginning with Dead Witch Walking. Whatever do you expect us to do when the series ends? I’m in hopes that you will do something as wonderful! Best wishes and thank you for this opportunity! πŸ™‚

They are my favorite series! I am a book lover to the extremes so it is saying something that you are my absolute favorite author. You have a gift and I love reading the stories you weave. The characters become family to me. πŸ™‚ Thank you for following the path to writing!

  85. Wanda Wygal

I started with Every Which Way But Dead. Then I realized this was a series and had to back track. Love the series and every now and then I go back to reread the books, especially the ones with Kisten. I am sad to see the series end, but I’m looking forward to new stories.

  86. Ceri

Dead Witch Walking ^.^ My mum got me hooked on the series after she started

  87. Amber

I started with Dead Witch Walking, after many recommendations from friends. It was only a couple years ago, and I quickly devoured all the rest and have eagerly awaited and every book since. I’m sorry to see the series end but am also happy that you will be ending the series and not just letting it fall to the side.

  88. Tempest McMichael

Started with Dead Witch Walking and fell in love! Your characters have grown so much throughout the series and I am so sad to see it end. Love the new cover, the colors look fresh! Perfect for the last book! πŸ™‚

  89. Tiffany Gould

The love of my life gave me Dead Witch Walking as a gift and I’ve been hooked to the Hollows Series ever since.

  90. Lacey

I always start with the first book, so Dead Witch Walking. I think there were only three books out at the time, though.

  91. Sam

I started reading Every Which Way But Dead and fell in love with the Hollows. Went back and read the first two and have reread the entire series at least twice. Can’t wait for the last book, but I’ll miss my favourite series. Hopefully Peri will be just as good πŸ™‚

  92. Kim B.

I started with Dead Witch Walking. I was hooked when I started that book and haven’t looked back. When the series ends I know I’ll feel like I’ve lost a friend.

  93. Started with Dead Witch Walking.

  94. Jennifer Butler

Dead Witch Walking was my first book and Stephen Butler was the one that told me to try them and I’ve been hooked ever since

  95. I’ve been reading from the beginning! Love the trio & the hollows! Such a rich story & character line!

  96. I started with Dead Witch Walking. The girl at the book store recommend the series. She was super excited about it so I turned around and grabbed myself a copy and have been hooked ever since.

  97. Joe

Been reading since the beginning & loved them all. When I saw the title of “Ever After” I was afraid that was going to be the end as it sounded too much like a conclusion. Glad it wasn’t. Sorry to see it coming to a close, but guess all things must.

  98. Heather C

Dead Witch Walking. Hooked ever since.

  99. Melanie F.

I started with Dead Witch Walking and immediately bought the next 6 books in Kindle format. I didn’t have a Kindle, so I read them on my ipod Touch because I couldn’t wait long enough to go down to the book store!

  100. Todd

I started at the beginning with “Dead Witch Walking”, part of a combo book that the Sci-Fi Book Club was selling. I actually bought the first four books that way, and read all of them within two weeks! I couldn’t get enough of Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks, and feel like they are family now. Your writing was so detailed and precise that I actually dreamed about the characters when I finished! Been hooked ever since. Thank you for so many years of pleasurable reading. πŸ™‚

  101. C. Crow

Drad witch walking! My wonderful cousin got me hooked on the series

  102. Samantha Kraupner

I’ve read them all starting with Dead Witch Walking. I’ve listened to them all on Audible as well. Margarite Gavin does a wonderful job with the character voices.

  103. Brittani

I started with Dead Witch Walking. Believe it or not, my dad actually bought the book for himself and I picked it up one day when I was bored and have pretty much not put The Hollows down since. I have recommended the series to my ex boyfriend, my best friend, my mother, my sister, my aunt, my sister’s friends, my cousins, and countless people on line as The Hollows is, and will forever be, such a huge part of my ‘Most loved’ book list.
I am both happy and sad that the story of Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks is finally coming to an end as they were not just characters in a story to me; they were friends who helped teach me some seriously valuable life lessons such as ‘people never really change’, ‘love and friendship truly is the most powerful magic’, and ‘never underestimate the usefulness of a nice pair of leather pants and a good pair of boots’. Thank you very much, Kim, for bringing these lovely people into my lap so that I could turn them into reality in my thoughts. Blessed be.

  104. Jennifer Roy

I started reading the Hollows series with Every Which Way but Dead. My sister had loaned me the first 3 books, complete with sticky notes delineating which order to read them in. I promptly removed the sticky notes, forgot which one was which, and started with the third.

  105. Laura Fiore

I started with Dead wWitch Walking. It was one of the books that got me through my car accident and recovery. I remember my mom came to stay with me to help me heal, and she started reading DWW when I was on the third book or so. She would sit on one couch and crack up, and I would do the same on the other couch. We would throw out random one liners and about pee ourselves. That was how my husband put it on his must read list.

  106. I started with Dead Witch Walking. As much as I want to know how the series ends, I’m sad this will be the last book. 😦

  107. alana scott

I was on another authors website and they recommended your book. So I looked up the first book, read it and became a hollows addict πŸ™‚

  108. Julie Greatorex

Dead Witch Walking! I’m from Cincinnati, and I love that it is set in and around Cinti πŸ™‚ Have all your books, one of my favorite series.

  109. Darleen ferguson

I read dead witch walking first because it was recommended to me by another friend.

  110. Faith Brancale

I started with Dead Witch Walking and over the years I’ve come to love the Hollows more and more!

  111. elizabeth

I started with Dead Witch Walking.

  112. John Fletcher

I stayed reading both times with dead Witch Walking. The first time a friend loaned me the books and I liked them so much that they were the first fiction books I purchased and purchased most of the professional narration too.

    • John Fletcher

Let’s try that again: I started reading both times with dead Witch Walking. The first time a friend loaned me the books and I liked them so much that when I got a Kindle they were the first fiction ebooks I purchased with professional narration too.

  113. Jamie Lea

The first book I bought was “White Witch, Black Curse”. Once I realized it was not the first book I went back and bought “Dead Witch Walking”. I’m going to miss this series 😦

  114. I read Dead Witch Walking the day it came out. I work in a bookstore, so I saw it right away and instantly was intrigued by the title and synopsis. I’ve since read, and listened to the series countless times, and I’m always talking about it on my YouTube channel! I’m so excited for the next book, but I’ll also be sad to see the series end.

  115. I started with Dead Witch Walking, a friend gave it to me and I was hooked and I’ve found a passion in reading again. Thank you for being the author to take me on adventures I’ve never thought of going. πŸ™‚

  116. PixieGirl

I actually came across a copy of Pale Demon at the library and checked it out because I liked the cover. The synopsis on the inside flap also intrigued me, but I didn’t find out until after I got the book home that it was a part of a much bigger story. Because I’m just weird that way, I immediately went back to the library in search of all the books in the series and started it from the beginning, the way you’re supposed to. πŸ˜‰
And boy am I glad I did! The Hollows has taken it’s place as one of my all-time favorite fantasy series, right up there with Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), and the Sword of Truth series. I’m really excited to read the final installment of Rachel’s story, but it’s a bittersweet excitement. Maybe Kim will be able to give us little peeks back into the Hollows from time to time; after all, we all want to know how things turn out with the Rosewood babies in ten or twenty years, right?
BTW, the little teaser peek at the new cover looks awesome so far! I like the change-up in the color scheme. It gives me a feeling of hope for the future of the Hollows!

    • Tamie Ritchie

I was at CVS waiting for my prescription to get filled and I desided that since I would not be able to talk for a few days I might as well find a good book. I saw Dead Witch Walking, loved the title and have been hooked on the Hollows ever since. I introduced a few friends to the series and got them hooked also!

  117. April Pearce

Dead Witch Walking. and I was hooked!

  118. Cheryl Hurst

The Good, the bad and the undead. They had it on display at barnes and noble and I didn’t realize at the time that it was part of a series. I loved it and had to read all the others.

  119. I started with Dead Witch Walking, but you were 12 books in so I didn’t have to wait long!

  124. I picked up The Good, The Bad and The Undead from a bookstore out of curiosity, read a couple of chapters and realized it was the second of a series and got ahold of Dead Witch Walking. I’ve been in love with the series since.

  125. michelle lavoie

I started at the beginning with dead witch walking. Love the series!

  126. Peggy Ricks

  127. Patricia Gates

I started with Dead Witch Walking

  128. Andy A

The book I read first was “Dead Witch Walking”. I didn’t start reading the series until the first ten books were out. It was nice that I could go from book to book without waiting for new ones to be written.

  129. white witch black curse went back to store and bought rest of series the next day! So unhappy it ends

  130. Sarah

    Dead Witch Waking!

  131. Stephen Butler

I was in the Seattle Tacoma Airport bookstore, looking for a book to last me the flight home, and found the Good the Bad, and the Undead, and mistakenly thought it was the first book, so hooked, then read the first and all the others!!

  132. I started with dead witch walking.

  133. I started at the beginning with Dead Witch Walking… I think you already had a few in the series out and I gobbled them up like my favorite ice cream. I also tend to reread, so I have read them several times over in between releases because I love catching the details I missed the first time through.

  142. sandi templeman

Perfect Blood caught my eye when I was on the way out of the library and thought, ‘what’s that?..*shrug*… why not?’ I had no idea what I was in for. Grumpy Trent at the murder scene hooked me. As soon as I realized I was in the middle of the series I requested the rest via the library…then ended up buying the whole series.

  143. J.M.Y.

    Dead Witch Walking. ❀

  144. Dana Sahagun

I started the series with Dead Witch Walking after recommended by a friend. I will be honest I couldn’t get into it (keep reading tho, this is not a bad review), I read the first fifteen pages or so then stopped and didn’t pick the book back up for a couple months. I am SO glad I picked that book back up because this series is by far my absolute FAVORITE. Followed closely by the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs. My reaction to this series ending would be best said by Jenks, Tinks a Disney whore I’m so sad to see this series end but I own them all and will continue to read them when I’m in need of a little demon action! πŸ™‚

  145. Zuri Trammell

Dead Witch Walking, when they were a freebie through Amazon… you were already on book 9, if I remember correctly, and I got to read all of them in a row, since I found them at the library πŸ™‚ Even though I’m sad it’s ending, I’m also glad it’s ending… that’s a lot of books to read all in a row when the mood hits! πŸ™‚ I’m looking forward to what comes next, Ms. Harrison… I’m a huge fan of your style… you keep me riveted and laughing all the way through πŸ™‚

  146. Megean

Hello! Just wanted to say your books are my addiction. Found the first book one day before I went to work. I was killing time at the local book store in my favorite section and happened to stumble across “Dead Witch Walking”. Haven’t turned back since. I’m always looking forward to seeing what you come up with next and I’m sad to see this story end. Thank you for the good read.

  147. Anita Robinson

Ofcourse I started with the first book Dead Witch Walking and I was hooked. I love the hollows and I hate and will miss it very much! But all good things must come to an end….

  148. Anita

My introduction to the Hollows was through “Every Which Way But Dead”. The title caught my eye, the story captured my attention and Rachel, well how can anyone not love Rachel? Of course Jenks holds a special place in my heart as well. I have gone to the beginning to read them all and have just recently finished “Ever After”. I enjoy your writing style and am sorry that the Hollows Series is ending soon but look forward to exploring your other works.

  149. Scarlett

I started with The Good, The Bad, and The Undead! It didn’t take long for me to realize I was missing something and after finishing that one I found Dead Witch Walking and haven’t been able to put your books down since ;D

I started with Dead Witch Walking…and I think the new cover piece looks gorgeous! πŸ™‚ ❀

  155. Matthew S.

Black magic sanction. It was an Audible special. I immediately grabbed the rest of the series that was available. I have listened to the entire series 3 or 4 times while driving all over the Midwest. I will be very sad to see it end.

  156. Ruth Eller-Belote

The Good, the Bad, and the Undead was my first! Was heart broken I had to work when you were in Raleigh. I am going to introduce your books to one of my coworkers. I know she won’t be able to put them down.

  159. I started w/dead witch walking which I loved, but lately I love to listen to the audiobooks. I love the way Marguerite Gavin read the characters that now even if I read a book I hear her voice in my mind speaking the characters. I hope whatever new series has her doing the audio.

  167. Michelle Owens

I started reading with Dead Witch Walking!

  168. Rocky Reeves

Dead Witch Walking. I was at Barnes & Noble checking to see if there was anything new from Jim Butcher, and as often happens, I got into a conversation with someone who was also looking in that section. After we compared notes on our favorite writers she said, “You’ve got to try Kim Harrison.” I did, and the rest is history.

  169. Megan Dowhower

I started with Dead Witch Walking. l had actually found it at Goodwill, and after reading the summery on the back of the book I knew this was my kind of series. I actually started reading about The Hollows last winter have not been able to put the books down since. 178. Gina P

I started with Dead Witch Walking in 2008. I got sick with strep throat that same week and got to stay in bed and finish what was out of the series and the time. Best time being sick ever πŸ˜€ They’ve become friends. Sad to see them go….

  179. Julie

  183. Bonnie

I started with DEAD WITCH WALKING. A friend recommended it and I became a fan! Sorry to see it end.

  184. Laurie S.

To be honest, I don’t recall the first book I started with but probably with the DWW. I listen to books and I love Marguerite Gavin and have the entire series in my audio library. I have yet to decide if I will listen to the last one, odd thing I do somethings is not listen / read the last book in a series and so the series never ends for me. Did the same with the Dark Tower series, but finally did read the last one there. Looking forward to the next endeavor.

  185. Kim H.

I found Dead Witch Walking in a clearance rack, thought it was different book series. Then got sucked in on the plane and sent my honeymoon scouring book stores for hardcover copies of the rest of the series. I actually bought a paperback of Fist Full of Charms because I just *HAD* to read and couldn’t wait for my hardcover to arrive.

  186. I started at the beginning and I too will hate to see the end, though I am sure we will be whisked away to new lands soon. I love Rachel and will miss her.

  187. Pauline Cheung

Dead Witch Walking – I picked it up when it was suggested I might like it due to another book I read on the Kindle in 2010 and ended up binge reading the next 6 books in less than week!

  188. Di

DWW – found an arc at an AAUW used book sale. Hooked ever since.

  190. Michelle Walters

  191. Kim, I started with Dead Witch Walking because I came in late. I just started the series a couple of years ago, so I didn’t have to wait for each book in the series to come out. Thank god!!! I don’t think I could have waited for each book!!

  196. Christy Hayter

Started with Dead Witch Walking and never turned back. I absolutely love this series. Actually only discovered it in the last year and half. So it’s sad to see it leave already. Really excited for the next book and so happy that it’s only a couple of months off.

  197. Terry

  198. Brenda Rorie-Baety

I actually started with the ‘Truth” books and I told my hubby I wished you had another series I could read, cuz this could NOT be all you wrote..’She’s too good!!!” Si he said “Have I got a series for you!” Dead Witch walking was the first of a long list of books to read..I’m hooked and have read all of your books! Not real fond of the ‘Princess” series but I love the Hollows! Looking forward to ‘Peri” too! πŸ˜‰

  199. From the beginning, with Dead Witch walking. The cover looks fantastic, impatient to see the rest!

  200. Jenah

Dead Witch Walking. What a great run!

  201. inkie

I started with Dead Witch Walking. I saw the UK cover (the neon yellow one… shudder…) and was so repulsed by it that I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe this was an awesome story being horribly let down by its cover. I had to find out. I’ve been hooked ever since!

  202. lavinia68

I started with Black Magic Sanction a few years ago, and hopped around in the series until i was able to get my hands on all of them, then i was able to finally read the Hollows in order.

  208. Hi Kim. the first Hollows book I picked up was For A Few Demons More. I read the first chapter, realized I was in the middle of a series, and went back to my library to find the first. I now own the entire series. Kim, you got me addicted to your own brand of Brimstone, lol. πŸ™‚

  209. Brenda Allen

I started with Dead Witch Walking when it was first published and never hesitated to buy a copy, hard or paper back, as soon as it hit the shelf. I have my entire family hooked!! I actually measure the success of another urban fantasy author by how your characters have been developed. There aren’t many that I would recommend like I do your books. There is usually something lacking. My how spoiled I have gotten and what the heck do I after the last book comes out…

  210. Sheila Smith

I started with Dead Witch Walking about 2 years ago and read everything that was out in the series in just a few weeks. Love this series and I hate to see it end.

  211. lbrychic

Dead Witch Walking, Of Course. I’ve gotten you several new fans when I suggest books at work (library).

  212. Darla Knepper

Dead Witch Walking…NOOOOOO Dang, I don’t want it to end

  213. Marina

    Hi Kim!
Well I started with the French edition of DWW, and kept reading in French until book 5 (It’s not published any further). My best friend had lent them to me and I read the five books in a week! during the 2012 Halloween Holiday. I downloaded the 6-7-8-9 in English (yeah it’s bad) BUT, I fell in love… and I purchased all the mass market edition, and discovered that big chunks of the first books hadn’t been translated at all! So I’d say I truly began at The Outlaws Demon Wails (OV is so better), but in a year and half I must have read The Hollows six or seven times… and I don’t know if I would have been able to wait between each book!
I’m a great reader in French or English (better at reading than at writting anyway, sorry if I made a few mistakes), but I can’t find a match for the world of Rachel, maybe Harry Potter when I was in middle school, about the feelings it brought me? I just know some pieces by heart, dream of it, make a movie of it… I’m so frustrated to not share this passion elsewhere than on a forum! My mom is to busy to read and my friends aren’t very good at English, but I still have hope πŸ˜‰
Thank you, thank you so much for giving me, and all your readers, such a wonderful dream, without it, my high school life wouldn’t have been the same. (And i can’t believe and wait for the end)
Pity but I don’t have any US adress to give you,
    Wish you well.
    Marina M, France.

  214. sue

  227. TonyB (aka as Tony Bonura)

The book I first read and the one that got me hooked on the Hollow’s was Pale Demon. That was the one that made start from the beginning and catch up. Then with each new release I re-read all the previous ones before reading that “new” story. Please say this isn’t really the very last book. Maybe in another year or two?????
    TonyB

  228. Erica W

  241. Alex

The first book I read was A Fistfull of Charms. I found that and the four after in a thrift store and have been building a collection of soft and hard backs since. It will be sad to see them end but I would like to see Rachels hard work pay off.

  242. I started with β€œThe Good, The Bad, & The Undead”. Course I’ve read them all several times over by now and I’m sad that its ending. I think it is going to be a great ending though and I’m looking forward to new books!

  245. Laura Hermsen

I bought Dead Witch Walking about 6 or 7 years ago. Decided that I LOVED it and bought everything that had been released up until that point. I love the cover. It seems very full of light where the rest have been darker. Is this a hint about the ending??? πŸ˜‰

  246. Chasity

I was working at Border’s bookstore and I started with “Dead Witch Walking.” Like all good booksellers, I forcefully suggested the book on anyone within talking distance! I raved about it to coworkers and customers. I even had some friends who read it just to shut me up and now they are HUGE fans! Thanks for the wonderful years of reading and I am sad this series is coming to an end. ;(

  257. Anne M

I started with Dead Witch Walking, I was immediately hooked!!!!

  258. Tina Bastien

I started at the beginning and am ready for the next chapter, please. I’m sure this seems like the end but I bet there will be another story eventually. There usually is when a character decides it’s time to start talking to you again. Til then, I’ll have to just reread the series.

  259. I picked up Dead Witch Walking first at our local library. I was working in a very stressful role & needed some good escape books. It sucked me in & I felt less stressed while reading it so went in search of the others. I decided to start picking my own copies up about 6 months later when I wanted to re-read the first few books & wanted to get copies of the ones the library didn’t have (fortunately they had all but a couple of the more recent ones). I am just waiting to be able to put in an order for a signed The Witch With No Name copy now, once you announce Nicolas are doing it. So glad they ship internationally!

  260. A friend lent me a fist full of charms, and now I don’t know how many times I’ve read them all.

  261. Margi L

I was having a really crappy day when I decided to walk down to my favorite store (a book store). I stumbled upon Dead Witch Walking and bought it. Once I picked it up to read I couldn’t put it down. I finished in two days. It gave me the lift in spirits that I needed. I have bought every book as soon as it came out. I have shared Rachel’s, Ivy’s and Jenks’s adventures with my family and friends.

  262. Gaye Johnston

I started with Dead Witch Walking, my daughter had been reading. I then went out and bought the entire series and have not looked back since! That was five years ago…. Thanks Kim x

  263. Michelle

I found A Fistful of Charms in an airport bookstore during a layover… as soon as I got to my destination, I told my friend we needed to get to a bookstore ASAP so I could pick up the rest of the series.

  264. david dumanski

A friend suggested your books to me so i went to the store and bought a fist full of charms not realizing it was a series at first. As soon as i realized it was i went back and bought dead which walking and haven’t stopped since. Love Love your books thank you Kim

Dead Witch Walking! Found it trolling a used book store!

  269. The first book I started was Dead Witch Walking. Luckily for me I was late in the reading-hollows-series game so I think up to book 7 to the series was out already when I picked up Dead Witch Walking, so I was able to just read one after the other non stop!

  270. I started with The Dead Witch Walking. and been hooked every since I,M saddened by the end of this great series, Hopefully ill like your new one.

  271. Denise Stoneking

I stumbled onto the series several books in, but I’m a bit OCD when it comes to reading series. I have to make sure that a single book is not part of a series before starting, and if it is, I have to buy them all and then start reading with book one. So, I got the first 8 in a set on E-Bay, and started with Dead Witch Walking. I can’t wait to see how it all ends. I love happy endings, and hate to see great characters not survive to the end. So, fingers crossed…

  272. Linda M Evans

I purchased the hard cover book “White Witch, Black Curse” on sale at B &N. After reading this book, I went back to the beginning of the series and started reading the books.

  279. hondiusv

I started reading “The Good, The Bad, & The Undead.” I hadn’t realized it was part of a series at first. Then I found out there were more books from this story line and started the series from the beginning. I love the Hollows books. Rachel is so hard core. Right now I’m waiting for “The Undead Pool” to come out. In the mean time I have acquired “Into the Woods.” I’m really enjoying that one. It lets you get to know all the characters that much more. I can promise I will continue to read your books. I’m a Hollows junkie hooked on your work and can’t wait to see what’s next. Keep em’ coming!

  280. Amanda

  295. Ami M.

I started with the first book so, I would know exactly what was going on and enjoy the series. πŸ™‚

  296. I started with Dead Witch Walking about 4 years ago. I was looking for an established urban fantasy series because I’m a voracious reader. The Hollows immediately became one of my favorite series. So much so that, this summer, I’m cosplaying as Rachel with Jenks on my shoulder at a midwest convention.
I’ll be very sad to see the end of this series. But at the same time I appreciate an author who knows when to exit. Thank you so much for these wonderful gems.
    ❀ Melanie

  340. Shannon

Dead Witch Walking because a former coworker recommended I am so sad to see this series END!! And I am really going to miss these characters ESPECIALLY AL =(

  341. Amy B

I started with Dead Witch Walking, which I discovered in a used book store about 5 years ago when I was looking for a book to take on vacation. I’ve now purchased it 3 times because I keep loaning my copy out to my friends and it doesn’t always get returned! That’s ok though, I love having my friends get hooked and then we try to come up with what is going to happen next. When a new book comes out we compete to see who can read it the fastest. It’s one of the very few series that I have to read over and over again. I’m not sure what I will do without new Rachel Morgan adventures! I’m excited to find out what happens next though πŸ™‚

  342. I got the first book from a friend because I was going to be having surgery and needed something to keep me occupied. Started with Dead Witch Walking. I started with Dead Witch Walking; I got it as part of the omnibus put out by the SFBC. I knew within two paragraphs that I was hooked and caught up to what had been published by the end of that month. I got my best friend addicted as well and we both are eagerly awaiting Witch With No Name (albeit with a sense of sadness).

  354. sheena howard

I began The Hallows series with Dead Witch Walking. I saw the cover art of the paperback with the bright red hair and the hand cuffs with the lucky charms. At that time, I would visit book stores and pick books based on the cover art only. I refused to read the excerpt on the back of the book so I wouldn’t know what to expect except for what was detailed in the cover art. I was blown away and The Hallows books became my favorite series to follow ever since.

  355. Dead Witch Walking πŸ™‚ Love ’em all and sad to see it end but can’t wait for your future endevours!

  357. Tori Junkin

Dead Witch Walking, but I didn’t find out about it until around 2009.

  358. April

White Witch Black Curse is the 1st Hollows book I read. It was a nice shinny hardcover in the new release section. Opening the flap I could tell it was part of a series, which intrigued me more. In looking over the various flaps I could not tell which book was first so I started with White. I could tell that I came in half way thru the series with all the mentions of Kisten being dead and Rachel loosing her memory. Even starting that far in I was hooked and have ready every Hollow book at 3 times already (except I am still working on the new 1).

  359. Christina Hill

So pretty so far, is Trent going to share the cover again?

  360. Marcie

I started with White Witch Black Curse. I was searching for something new to read and saw your book at the library in the new release section. 365. Layla

I started with Dead Witch Walking and finished the remaining books within a week. I love all of the characters but Al seems to have found his way into my soul. I will miss them all very much!!!!

  366. Michelle Sieradzki

I began with Dead Witch Walking. I picked it up because Rachel on that cover had leprechaun red hair and I was intrigued. Once I continued reading, I was a goner when Ivy was introduced. Can’t wait for The Witch with No name!! πŸ™‚

I was never a big reader, but love these. I would laugh about some parts of the books and my husband wondered what I was laughing about. So now as soon as I read the next book in the series he pushes me to get them done so he can read them too. I am sad that this will be the last book, but I will re read them again and again.

I would love to say that I started right with Dead witch walking….but I got mixed up and started on book 3. About 4 chapters in, I realized I was in love and also that I needed to go back and find out how we had come to that point. I am so excited to see how Rachel’s journey comes to a close but I also feel like I am losing friends who have been a big part of my life. Very bittersweet. I can only imagine how you feel. The wonderful thing about books, though…you can visit anytime you like and you don’t need an invitation. Thank you for sharing Rachel , Ivy & Jenks with us.

This new bright cover should stand out well in my bookshelf which seems to be mostly black, blues and purples….

  413. Melodee

I honestly don’t remember which book, but it was close to the middle. Didnt take very long to know I had to read them all, asap.

  429. Brittany M

DWW was my first book, Books a million had the first 4 books with a massive sale so I ended up buying all 4 before I even knew if I liked the series or not. A decision I have never regretted.

  430. Dead witch walking, found it last year and doing my best to catch up. I’m currently on White Witch, Black Curse and loving it.

  431. Maike

The first book of the series I read was “White Witch Black Curse.” It was in the clearance aisle (sorry :-)) and it sounded and looked interesting, proving how much the cover matters, right? It took me a few chapters to get over my confusion. If the writing had not been so good, I probably would have put the book away just because I understood only half of the story initially. But once I got the hang of it, I loved it and then had to read the series from the beginning.

  432. I honestly don’t remember which one I started with–found this series at the library, and took one home to try–then the next day I went back and checked out every single book in the series I could find. I’ve re-read them all several times, and I’ll dearly miss the series. 😦

  448. i was fortunate to start with DEAD WITCH WALKING in 2008 and bought it through the Science Fiction Book Club – fortunate in that after being hooked on Rachel, i was able to buy all of the books up to FOR A FEW DEMON’S MORE and read them in a fairly rapid progression. The down side was having to wait for the new books to come out once I was caught up. I did read several various author’s books with similar characters or themes, but none of them compared favorably with the story lines and characters surrounding Rachel and I never continued in any of those series. I will truly miss Rachel and I look forward to seeing where Kim takes her πŸ™‚

  449. Elizabeth M.

I started with DDW, but, I bought A Fistful of Charms first not knowing it wasn’t the first book and had to make a trip by another bookstore to find it because my local one was out…

I started with Dead Witch Walking and couldn’t wait to read the next. It’s one of my favourite series, I’m looking forward to finding out how it ends and so sad that it’s ending 😦 Incredibly happy about the early publish date though especially since I’m not very patient

  580. Michelle B

  581. I first read dead witch walking in 2008 19 years old and pregnant I’ve always been a big reader but having a night job I needed something exciting and new! So I hit the books a million clearance rack and let’s be honest I judged the book by the cover πŸ˜‰ since then I’ve been sucked in. I hurried to catch up breezing through books and then impatiently waiting for the next and the next Rachel Morgan is real to me and as she’s grown more and more I feel I’ve grown with her being a wonderful friend.

  590. Chalsie Baker

I started by reading Dead Witch Walking and it go me hooked on the Hollows! Btw, from an advertiser, the colors of this cover have me super excited!

  591. The first book I read from The Hollows series was Black Magic Sanction. I remember it catching my eye in the library. I read it in one day – and completely fell in love with the characters and Rachel’s world. When I got to the end of the book, it listed several other books in the series…and I was so surprised that I missed 7 books because Black Magic Sanction was so easy to pick up and just read. From there, I went back and read the first 7, and recently finished The Undead Pool. I’m so happy I searched the book (I was hoping there was more anyways) and found an entire series to fall in love with.

  592. I started with Dead Witch Walking. A friend told me about it. Glad she did. Bought the next two and then had to wait for the rest to come out.

I started with DWW and I had chosen it as a “buy a book by its cover”. I didn’t read the back and I’ve been a fan eer since. I’ve loved this journey with all the folks from the Hallows. I do have to say if I hadn’t read this series and I saw this last book’s cover I would have bought it without looking at the blurb too!

  679. Whitney

I started with Dead Witch Walking. I think the first four were out when I came across it at the bookstore one day and I bought up all four right away.

  680. Evelyn Mitchell

My bestie recommended The Hallows series to me, so I *knew* it was going to be good. Basically anything she’s ever told me to read has blown my mind. So I resisted the temptation to check out the most recently released book. I’d been burned by that method before; inevitably having to go back to the beginning because I hate reading things out of order if I really love it. So Dead Witch Walking was the first Hallows book I ever read and I’ve never once regretted my decision. Well, a tiny little bit of regret shows up when I’m jonesing for the new book, but it’s always worth the wait. I’m so sad the series is ending, but I’m very glad that you’re ending it with love (it seems that way so far, anyway). I get so sad when the ending just seems like the author had lost interest or just given up on a character. Rachel is still going strong and it gives me so much hope for her future!

  681. Thomas Browne

Started with Dead Witch Walking, although not when it initially was released.

  682. Lisa

Actually, the first book I read was Dead Witch Walking. My father and I stumbled upon your series in the news paper and from there the rest is history. Fans for life! Lisa

  709. Kristine Shore

Dead Witch Walking was my first, I discovered it by chance in my local library.

  710. B Wolf

Dead Witch Walking. It was offered for .99 on Amazon many years ago. That is what made me notice your books. But, after seeing all the titles, I knew I was going to read the rest of the series even before DWW finished downloaded to my Kindle.

  711. Andreah

Dead Witch Walking. A coworker recommended it to me after listening to Marguarite Gavin’s voice come from her office for so many years when each book came out. I just started reading the series this year! So behind! But I’m already on book 3, Every Which Way But Dead. I intend on finishing them before the last book comes out! I listen to them on audiobook in the car and at work. I love the reader, Marguarite Gavin. Jenks makes me laugh, and the voice for each character are great! I wish my friends would have recommended your series to me years ago!

  729. Dead Witch Walking was the first one I read … entirely accidentally, mind you. It was on sale on Amazon, then I got it on Audible too and I started reading without any sense of order. Later I went back and read them in proper sequence. I am having trouble coping with the series’ ending. Like having ones best friends move to the other coast.

  730. Diane Pekish

I started with DWW, and was hooked from day one, This last book will be like saying goodbye to some really good friends, thank the gods I have all the books so that I may visit them. 731. Gina Barry

Started with Dead Witch Walking. I had a 2 hr commute to work and was always scouring the used book store for audio books. I came across DWW and the story and Margurite sucked me in with her narration. I just actually “read” all the books on the reread.

I started with Dead Witch Walking, based on a friend’s recommendation. I got it from the library & had to do a lot of waiting & searching to read them all in order. It wasn’t until I got my Nook that I started buying books, & now I am pleased to say that I own the entire series in one form or another, including an autographed first edition of TUP. 771. Melanie

The first book I read what Dead Witch Walking!! I fell in love with Rachael’s crazy ways and antics right there! I loved that although she was the obvious heroine of this book, she was a very relatable character with a tacky fashion sense, and sometimes bad judgement. She’s someone who isn’t perfect, but you can’t help loving her an wanting her to succeed!
The new book cover is beautiful!!

I’ve been in love with the series ever since!

  792. Angela

I started reading the Hallows series with Dead Witch Walking when I was 15, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I’m sad to see the last book for the series coming very soon, but the Hallows series will ALWAYS be my favorite. Whenever I meet new people who read as much as I do, you’re the first person I recommend for them to read. Also, did I mention today’s my birthday? Winning this would be the best 22nd birthday present ever!!!!!

  793. Heather Mitchell

Sometime in 2006 or 2007, I was managing a shoe store. One of my co-workers, Angela, and I were talking about books. What we like to read. What we’d read lately. I was saying how I was in need of a good series. I like stories with more than one book, I kind of need them. I seek them out. She asked if I had ever heard of Rachel Morgan or The Hollows. I said, no. Angela said, “Sounds like this series is right up your ally”. She said, “I’ll lend you the first one, and if you like, I will bring you more” If these books were a drug, she’d just become my dealer! I was lucky enough to start with Dead Witch Walking and haven’t missed one since. Thank you Angela for opening my eyes to the Hollows!

I started with Dead Witch Walking. The guy I was interested in at the time mailed it to me when I was living in Delaware, he was in Winnipeg, Canada. It arrived and I started in on it with a fever. Fell in love and was addicted to them ! We call them Reader Crack around here. LOL He shipped all of the rest of the series to me, one at a time up until about book 7…then, I moved to Seattle, WA with him where we now live, happily married with a sweet little 2 year old girl who I can’t wait to introduce to your books when she’s older πŸ˜€

  825. Kim Nazimek

I started with The Good, the Bad, and the Undead picking it up in my library not realizing it was the 2nd in a series. I went to DWW after finishing Book 2 and read the rest in order. I can’t say I have a favorite. I love them all. At 12 books I find that amazing. There is only one other series besides The Hollows that long that I per-order and wait impatiently until it is delivered at midnight on my E-Reader. I often wonder what hilarity and mayhem would ensue if Rachel Morgan took a trip to Chicago and crossed paths with a certain smart mouthed Wizard.

  826. erin b

Dead Witch Walking, but only because a friend told me about the books and i REFUSE to start a series in the middle πŸ™‚

  829. Hector Becerra

I started reading The Hollows series with Dead Witch Walking. I was looking for a new book to read, saw this on the rack and got hooked onto reading it. I’ve eagerly waited for each book to come out and have even bought the digital versions as they’ve come out on sale. I can’t wait for the next one (though a bit disheartened to see it may be the finale)

  830. My first taste of the Hollows was Dead Witch Walking, and it has turned out to be the sweetest addiction for this avid bookworm

  831. Valerie Edwards

I actually started with Dead Witch Walking and was hooked straight away – sadly being in the Uk we have to wait a bit longer for them to be released. but they’re always worth waiting for.

  836. A friend said, “You have to read this!” and so I was given EVERY WHICH WAY BUT DEAD. I devoured it. An instant addiction formed, and I went back to catch up on the previous two books (once I realized there was a series). I’ve been in love with Kisten ever since. At the risk of sucking up, I also follow you on Facebook and Twitter. —> Currently, Amazon Top Reviewer #4,913 bookwormpov (at) gmail (dot) com

I started the series with The Good, The Bad, and The Undead. The cover got my attention and I didn’t bother to see if it was part of a series. I just dove right in and fell in love. I then went back and started with the first one. I am so glad that I found this series and because of it I always check to see if a book is part of a series. lol

  846. g33kxx

Dead Witch Walking, though I think you were 3 or 4 books into the series by then. A friend recommended it to me and I’m OCD enough that I have to start at the beginning πŸ™‚ Thus my question at the signing in MN about how much rehash goes into books and who gets to decide that πŸ˜‰

  847. Brandy

I purchased A Fistful of Charms first, realized this is a series and went back to start with Dead Witch Walking. One of my better reading decisions.

I started with Dead Witch Walking, after my best friend told me how much fun she was having with the series, and Jenks was our favorite character for a long time. We’re both sad to see the series ending, but glad we can go back and re-read anytime.

  851. jesshaz

Dead Witch Walking… It’s actually the most downloaded book in Denver. Didn’t even know that, but it did’t take me long to get totally obsessed with this series. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without all my friends from the Hollows after this last book. 😦

  852. Clacie

I started with the audio for Dead Witch Walking. I was hooked right away. This is exciting, but sad. Rachel is one of my favorite book friends.

I happen to buy the first one – DWW – on Amazon when I had to find something to make the $25 order. My husband and I loved the book so much, we drove around the Dallas area to all the Half Price Book stores and found the next books in the series up to Fist Full of Charms. We found them at 4 of the bookstores. It was a fun day looking for next books and a fun day for us to go to that many used bookstores in one day.

Dead Witch Walking. I can’t stand to read a series out of order. Now when my mother started reading this series, she accidentally started with the book after Kisten’s death and then went back to the beginning, but it was already ruined for her and she never connected with him.

  872. Kimberly W.

Dead Witch Walking. My sister told me about the series and I started reading it at her house. 880. Dead Witch Walking was the first novel of the series that I found and read while I was walking around BORDERS book store lol I miss Borders 😦

  881. Shere'e in Seattle

I started with Dead Witch Walking. I found it at a jumble sale and thought it looked ok. Little did I know it would suck my face off and I would not be able to put it down. I have eagerly waited for each additional book to come out and am sad to see them end.

I started with Dead witch walking only because I am an avid reader that only reads series. I had a very boring job and I would look for series that were long so that I could get engrossed in characters and be swept away into another world. 891. Rachel

I started at the beginning with Dead Witch Walking.

  892. I found The Good, The Bad, and The Undead at a used bookstore in Arkansas while I was visiting there. Now I only suffer between release dates lol!

  893. Kendra Richter

I started with Dead Witch Walking a few years ago. I’m honestly not sure how I found Kim Harrison or her amazing books! Once I started I couldn’t stop. Luckily when I came in there were sever books so I was able to keep reading. I’ve had to wait for the last few, but the process had been amazing! I love that Kim sends out teasers and keeps the waiting process fun. She keepers her readers involved in the whole process. I know I’m going to cry when this series ends. I don’t even know what I’m going to do without Rachel and the messes she always gets into!

Had to do a little research for this question!!!!! I read the books more than once! It gets confusing. But I have to say the first hard cover book of the series I have is The Outlaw Demon Wails. I don’t know if this is because that was the first hardcover of the series to come out. I suspect that I started with a Few More Demons. Then went backwards and forwards! Lol. I would love to have all books in hardcover!

It was Dead Witch Walking. I have been hooked since. I’m going to miss my Hollows family.

  926. This series started out for me to be a filler between Laurell K Hamilton books back before they got completely raunchy. I found “White Witch, Black Curse” at the library and it was only after getting a few chapters in that I realized I had started in the middle of the series…but it was so well written I didn’t really feel I was missing any pieces right away. And it was so fun to read I then went back and checked out all the other books my library had in the series. I was still a bit confused, and read “For a Few Demons More” next. Eventually I figured, “maybe I should look for the official order online” and I finally figured out to start with “Dead Witch Walking.” I then re-read everything just in time for “Black Magic Sanction” to come out in hardcover. I’ve been a huge fan ever since. This series is no longer “filler” for me. It filled a spot I had been missing for some time. I hardly even look now to see when the next LKH book is ready! I’m going to miss this series.

I was searching Audible.com for a new series when I ran across the synopsis for The Hollows, which sounded interesting. So I purchased the first book in the series, Dead Witch Walking and fell in love with the characters. I’m actually very sad having to say goodbye to Rachel and crew after The Witch With No Name and have decided to buy the actual books and keep them in my collection. I listen to books, lots of commute time, and if I become fond of a particular book or collection, I will buy the real books for my collection.
