Happy Thursday! Here’s a shot of my dogs/office assistants. Work is going well, and I should be passing the half-way mark for the next Madison book. It’s starting to FINALLY come together. –Kim

Well, I hope so Miss Harrison 😉
It’s easy when you get into reading a certain book. I’ve had fascination towards vampires and Wicca art for the longest time. It’s the beauty and temptation that draws me to that world.
Have you ever thought about plans of making your books into movies or anime?
We get little nibbles from the film industry enough to know there’s interest, but nothing has been attractive enough to let go of my rights. Maybe someday, but if not, that’s okay, too. I think it would make a great movie, but my reading public might not be big enough to warrent it yet. The Hollows is a rather . . . kookie place. Not easily marketed. (grin) –Kim
Who would you get to play the characters? Would you be one? Maybe Ivy or Rachael?
The Hollows isn’t really all that kookie.lol You would still be getting a share from the movies that are made right?
A girl at work introduced me to your books. That is how I got hooked and I shared with a friend or few and they got hooked. Been awhile since I talked to them though. I moved from Texas to Kentucky almost three years ago.
I hope so, too. I alwys tell her that she doesn’t need to dress a dog.
Aleix hates getting in a sweater, but Xander doesn’t mind. I never put them on unless it’s below freezing, and that happens maybe three times a year. –Kim
Heart melting over puppies! So darn cute.
Thanks, Lemonade! They do keep me smiling, even on the bad days. –Kim
A friend of mine saw that pic and was out of control. She’s a freak when it’s about lillte dogs. So wierd. A little bit like Paris Hilton. 😉
OMGosh, I hope your friend treats little dogs like dogs, and not dolls! –Kim
I love the pictures of the pups kim! There sun bathing 🙂 Hope you have a good weekend in the dirt! Jen UK
Thanks, Jennifer. They had been racing through the house ten minutes before, so they were tired! You have a great weekend, too! –Kim
Hiya Kim, Awwww! How cute are your dogs?! I love it! Strangely enough, every time I go up to the office to write, my cats follow me and sit with me while I’m typing. Must be the aura of happiness I give off when I’m typing! Almost finished the book! And I managed to get some feedback from an agent on its first 10 chapters. I am so chuffed with how it’s shaping up now. I have the feeling it’s going to be one hell of a book when it’s done! Hope all is well in the Harrison household. Warmest regards, UK Kate 🙂
Thanks, Kate! They make good company. Just like your cats. That is fantastic that you’ve almost finished your book. And even better you got feedback for the first ten chapters! That’s wonderful! Fingers crossed! –Kim
I love your books with Ivy and Rachel. I have read the latest one and can’t wait for more to come. It is really good. I was wondering, would you ever create a writing about Ivy and her life, her thoughts? I think Ivy has become the character closest to me at this point. I have a fear of allowing others close to me because something seems to always go wrong. Rachel just seems untouchable for me.
Keep up the great work 🙂
Thanks! I’m so glad you are enjoying them. They are too much fun to write. I used to say that I would never write about Ivy from her point of view again because the Ivy short in DATES FROM HELL was emotionally hard for me to write, but there has been a lot of interest, so I’m thinking I might. Maybe. –Kim
I put the wrong name the first time I posted this. From reading the books, to me, it feels like Ivy is in despair and that she doesn’t know what to do with Rachel or the situation between them. I see her as destroying herself trying to make things work but holding everything back. Did you intend that for your readers to think or is it just me? Probably just me. lol
Your books are best by far from all books with vampires I have read. To much sexual activity in some of them:P
I haven’t read the book DATES FROM HELL yet. I didn’t think it would be all that great but I see I must have it now!
Hi, Ravven. Ivy is trying to figure things out as much as Rachel is, and destroying herself is her natural path. It’s this new “not destroying herself” that she is trying to learn, and holding back until she knows she can do it is how she’s coping right now. I’m glad you’re seeing that. 😉
I’m really glad you’re enjoying the books. Thanks! –Kim
I’ve told you before but I have to say again, your dogs are SO adorable!… You need a Kitten though! I have one, she’s black and cute as a button… and if my land lady see’s her before I find her a home I’m SO dead. lol So yeah, you need a kitty. “grin”
On that note, good that the writing is going well. I can’t wait for the next book already. 🙂
Thanks, Anna! My dogs keep me company most of the day. Kitten? er, no thanks. I have three cats already. You want a cat? (grin) –Kim
hi it’s rachel again…I just wanted to say I adore your books and think kisten is yummy but that’s not the point I wanted to make by this post. I wanted to ask you if you intentionally made it so Nick had a good first impression and then in the end turned out bad and Kisten having a bad first impression and then have him be good in the end?
p.s I don’t care if they’re bad or good but all vampires are sexy. Thank you for reading this (:
Thanks! I’m really glad you like them! That is a good question about Nick. I wanted him to be good, but he slowly evolved into bad. Kisten I never intended to be in the books at all! He was always good in my mind, but Rachel didn’t trust him at first.
Hey Kim! OMG they are SO CUTE! ^_^ We have a few pets… two ferrets, a turtle, a bunny, and a cat. We used to have two dogs (both labradors, one brown and one black), but we had to give them to another family when we moved. We also had another cat, a Manx named Sakura, whom we found in a pipe. We coaxed her out and took her home. She had a really short tail, and my mom thought she had been abused, but apparently Manx cats are bred like that, lol! She got really spoiled and fat, but then she suddenly started losing weight and not eating. We found out she had feline leukemia; she died a few days after we found out, which was about a week ago.
Aand I am at my friend’s house so I am going to let her add something. Her name is Rachel (lol) and please don’t think she is too weird. 😛 lol
(and now that I see what she has written, I must beg you not to think she is insane. (even though we both are.) x])
hey kim! I was wondering if Al had any weaknesses…me and my friend are playing this game where we act out some of the characters and we’re trying to stick to the book as much as possible…so how do I defeat Al? -Rachel (:
Hi, Lora. Wow, you have a lot of pets! You sound like me. 😉 I’m so sorry to hear about Sakura. My first cat died from that years and years ago, and I still miss her.
Hi, Rachel. Oh, Weaknesses in Al? I haven’t found one yet, but I think that his weakness is going to be his emotions. I think that he can be beaten by way of his heart.
Can they get ANY cuter??? They both look like they’ve been working hard!
Thanks, Judi! Working hard, eh? (grin) Hardly working, more like it. –Kim
Hi Kim!!! That looks like a familiar picture, same color pups and everything. 🙂 Although, our babies are a little bigger, 33 and 43 pounds. You forgot to throw in the part where about every 15 min or so the blonde one comes up, gives you kisses, and wants to go outside. In our house, if you want to go outside, kisses are required. 🙂 ~Indy
Holy cow! You got good-size dogs. (grin) I like big dogs, too, but little dogs fit in my life better right now. –Kim
Now talk about motivation to procrastinate. I would never get anything done with those two ultra cute office assistants!! So how is the Ivy short coming along? Have a fantabulous weekend! Joy
Thanks, Joy. You have a great weekend, too. 😉 The Ivy short is finished. Ugly but finished. It’s resting right now until I’m ready to work with it again. –Kim
Oh boy, I’m so looking forward to it!!!!!! And I guess I’m not the only one…
Love the puppies 🙂 I wish my puppy would just lie in the sun like that but he’s a little too hyper. Although, with the warmer weather he’s settling down, lol. (I’m sure it’s the heat)
I’ve got a couple of books on my plate but I think I’m going to try the new Madison when I’m finished. I’m looking forward to it, I’ll just have to read the other ones really quickly so I can get to it, lol.
Thanks, Stephanie! Trust me, there was a lot of playtime before they stopped to enjoy the sun. Cool, I hope you give Madison a try. This third book feels good to me. –Kim
I rather like big dogs! BIG! YEAH 😉 *grin* I love great dane, huskies and many more. The two little dogs remind me of bats.*hihi* Iam Sooorry Kim. Don’t be cross with me 😉 They look cheeky! (a cheeky little devil) *grin*
I am not informed well. Does this mean you have finished with Rachel?
Is Rachel’s history completed?
V V — Regine 😉
I like big dogs, too, Regine. 😉 They are the best for hiking with, or playing tug, or just about everything. But I’m going to have a friendly disagreement with you. Little dogs RULE! (grin)
No, I’ve not finished with Rachel. I usually write a couple of things a year, so Madison is slipping right into the schedule with no interuption to the Hollows. –Kim
Little dogs RULE? 😉 *Smiling silly*
OKI, Napoleon was small too *hihi*
I only play up.
Enjoy the link, its just for fun >> http://www.straysanatomy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/great-dane-and-chihuahua-c11759689.jpeg
Aw, so cute! I always love love love it when you share shots of your dogs!
Thanks, Candace! I try not to show them off too much. But somedays . . . I just have to. –Kim
Oops. And yes, if out in the sun, a book is NOT the perfect thing. Gardening. Or dog training, or something you can do outside. We get so few really good days here! Finish with Madison, as I said, too much like Chinese food:)
Sixty pages left on the rough draft. It’s coming, Mud! 😉 –Kim
That one patch of sun on a leaf strewn floor. They practically blend in *Smile*. And not a dust bunny with fangs to be seen. *Damn CRS, must groom 15, 11, and 4 year old!*
I hate to ask again, but what about the pacing? How does a writer go from Paranormal Romance to Urban Fantasy. The writer I’m think of is JR Ward (Jessica Bird, who probably changed HER name due to her Harlequin roots). Hey, she’s a dog lover and likes Cheddar cheese, least I could do, when she came to Milwaukee was get her some.
Anyhow, her original 10 books were plotted before 2006, she has characters developed on her website years before they make an appearance. She, like you, fascinates me with how your minds work.
And now, her books are classified as Urban Romance. The whole subject is just amazing.
So I found a lanyard that’s pink with white skulls and a lavendar ribbon…
Never mind. Give me access to the Libraries Overdrive site (they lend out audiobooks for seven days, very nice for MP3 download), my MP3, and 2 hours of watering in a hot greenhouse.
Paranormal romance: Formulaic ‘Harlequin’ book where one lead is a paranormal character.
Urban Fantasy: plot. Or at least based on what I was listening to. I can also see why some authors are being reclassified. Still interested in your thoughts on Pacing though…
Mud, picking off mealy bugs…
I’m not sure about pacing, Mud, but the goal of the protagonist is different in each of the genres. They both might have the goal of solve the crime, but in paranormal romance, get the man/woman/vampire as well is equally important. –Kijm
Heyde Hey Kim! The pups look very adorable! In fact mine is doing the exact same thing, found his favorite spot by the window and getting some sun. Glad to hear you’ve not succumbed to sorting office supplies also. I feel about like that, it’s like day 6 of a heat wave and cabin fever is setting in!
Hi, Mendi! You should see my smile. Dogs and cats in the sun. Ahhh. No, I’ve stopped arranging and organizing. It should go well from here on out. Just the action stuff now, and the wrap up. Ooooo, nasty heat wave. We have like three months of it, but everything is air conditioned, so we can still get out. –Kim
Congrats on your renewed progress. See, as soon as you left the office supplies alone, the creative juices started flowing. The pups look very helpful in their office duties, but hey, silent company is probably what you need sometimes.
Thanks, Valerie. I knew it would come. I just needed to sit in the chair and stop letting myself be distracted. And yes, silent company is exactly what a writer needs. Lots of it. –Kim
Oh god. They just cute. 🙂
Thanks, Linda! They keep me company. 😉
Hi Kim, You know I love Twilight but your right if we tame the vampire what do we have to be afraid of in the dark. Can you recommend a vampire story that is truly scary. I love to be afraid. When I was a kid me and my mom use to stay up all night watching like Jason and Michael Myers movies. As much as I love vampires (and my husband now thinks its absession grin) and vampire romance I haven’t found one truly scary to read.
Just inserting my two cents. Anyone who is a vampire fan who has not yet read Dracula owes it to herself to do so. It’s where it all began after all. 😉
Hi, Heather. Mmmm, Jocelynn Drake has very scary vampires. The romance runs through the series, so don’t expect a happy ever after until the end, and knowing Jocelynn, there might not be one there, either. But excellent, excellent writing. –Kim
Hey, Kim! Absolutely love the picture of the pups!! They remind me of the cats I used to have — always laying in the sunny spot on the floor. Congrats on the progress on Madison! It’s got to be a great feeling when “the plan comes together” (as Hannibal used to say on the A-Team!). It looks like I’m going to have to call in the big guns on my computer. Geek Squad here I come!
Thanks, Sue! I will admit that they keep me company. Yikes, your computer still not working? The Geek Squad are my heros. 😉 –Kim
