    Hi Kim,

On page 302 of APB Rachel offers to sign over her income from her tulpa over to Al. Trent questions this and Rachel says that she’ll tell him later. Does Trent know what a tulpa is to the demons or does he think this has something to do with his horse? And if he does know that a tulpa is a demon construct does that have any bearing on why he chose it as the name for his horse? Thanks!

    Hi Kim,

Just a quick question, Is there or will there be a map of Trent’s compound?

    Cheers
    Carlie

    • I was also very interested in that. I thought maybe it would be in the Hallow Insider, but no. I think it might be kinda hard since his compound is so large and complex and multi-leveled. That would be really cool!

  3. Pixie

Hi Kim, maybe I missed something, but where did Keasley go to? Didn’t the book mention that he disappeared?

  4. Sabrina

    Hi Kim,
i just re-read APB and I really enjoyed the growth in Rachels character. She clearly has grown up since DWW.
    My questions:

    1. In Ever After is Rachel going to learn all those handy demon tricks like: going misty or popping in and out?
    2. Is rachel going to heal Trents Hand in EA or in a later book.
    3. Do u know when we can expect a synopsis?

Thank you for this great series

    • Hi Sabrina. Thanks! I’m so glad you’re enjoying watching Rachel grow. You had some questions.
      1. She’s learning more demon lore, yes.
      2. spoiler!!!
      3. Probably closer to October?

  5. Alex

These books are amazing! I hate to see them end but want to see them all happy. I’m not sure you can really answer my questions but here they are- 1.does the kitchen sex have anything to do with Ivys question “why is Trent in the shower?” 2. Is Ellasbeth showing up because she doesn’t want Rach around her daughter or because she wants Trent back or both? 3. Why would Newt tell Al not to sleep with Rach when that would be the best shot at her? She trusts Al better then any other demon. Don’t get me wrong, everything points to Trent as the best love interest but still. I know all of these will be anw

    • Alex

Sorry, posted too soon. I know all of these will be answered before the last book, just don’t want to wait.

    • Hi Alex. Thanks! I’m so glad you’re enjoying them. You’ve got some questions.
      1. The kitchen sex scene was originally in A Perfect Blood, taken out when I changed a character around, so no, it wouldn’t relate to Trent in the shower, no.
      2. Ellasbeth is living up to her commitments, and it’s a pain for everyone.
      3. Newt is crazy.

    • Could you please tell me what u read for ever after as I am dying to know about the kitchen counter thing

  6. I don’t think this will be considered a spoiler, so I will ask… I am curious as to how much time passes between “A Perfect Blood” and “Ever After”. I know Months past after “Pale Demon”. Hope you can answer this question… THANK YOU for all of your work and responses with your fans. I truly enjoy reading you daily blogs on my phone every morning!

    Hi Kim,
I love the counter for Ever After on this page but it’s depressing that it’s eight months away(sigh). I have a few questions about Ever After and I hoping you’ll be able to answer them.
    1. Will we learn more about Bis in this coming book?
    2. Does Bis need to stay on holy ground anymore because he’s bonded with Rachel?
    3. Will EA feature who Rachel is leaning towards, for her love life?
With talk being that Ellasbeth will be a larger role in the coming book, I wondered..
    4. Will we find out what Ceri/Quen feel about Ellasbeth being back in the picture? I’m dying to know how Ceri will handle this
    5. Can Ellasbeth still sign the wedding papers that she left behind?
    6. Is Trent, Ellasbeth’s Sa’han?
    7. Will Ellasbeth be staying at Trent’s compound?
thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.Have a great week

    • Hi LIsa. Ooooh, a lot of your questions are spoilerish, but I’ll do my best.
      1. Yes. Bis is becoming more and more important.
      2. Ah, he never needed to stay on holy ground to begin with.
      3. You got me.
      4. You got me. :-)
      5. No, if I remember correctly, they do expire after a time. Besides, I don’t think Trent’s signed them.
      6. Ha! No.
      7. She’s certainly going to try.
You have a great week, too!

  8. Hi Kim,
I don’t know if this was answered in earlier questions, but I didn’t see it and it’s been bugging the heck out of me. I just re-read APB and every time I look at the cover I go, “oh, I keep forgetting to ask Kim who the guy is in the background!”
Pretty please tell me it’s Trent. <3

Side note, I want to thank you whole-heartedly for all of your posts on writing, and for sharing how difficult the process can be sometimes. I'm in the middle of writing the rough draft of my first novel and simply hearing that an author I admire struggles with the same dilemmas I do really bolsters the ol' fighting spirit. So again, thank you. :)

    • Hi Aine. He’s kind of there for atmosphere. It could be Trent, seeing as he was in the woods at night, but it could be Eloy, or Wade, too. :-)

You are so welcome for the writing posts. I think it’s a crime when writers portray an unrealistic approach, as if the first thing off their pen is golden. It’s messy, scattered, and horribly, horribly fun to see develop into a real, poignant thought.

  9. Carlie

I forgot to say thanks for answering all my questions. I am a hugh fan of the Hollows and I appreciate all the time you take to answer all the questions.

    Cheers
    Carlie

  10. Carlie

    Hi Kim,

I just have a few questions I was wondering about.

    1) Will Rachel ever take a crime scene etiquette class?
    2) In BMS when Rachel is remembering her time at camp with Trent, he shoves some ley line energy into her. Trent tells her his father told him she was dangerous. Is this all his father told him about Rachel or did he tell Trent she could invoke demon curses?
3)What happened to Maggie I think she was Trent’s cook. She was worried about being pushed out by Ellasbeth, but was it Ceri who pushed her out or is she still around?
4)This is a random question I was wondering about. When a pixie dies, he or she’s mate dies as well and the children leave. Is this correct? Who takes their old garden? The oldest child or do they all leave and forget about it? Also do the older children help the younger ones or are they all on their own?

    • Hi Carlie. You’ve got some questions! I’ll take them one at a time.
      1. Probably not.
      2. I think he did. I think Trent knew all along, which was why he didn’t want her to touch him at first.
      3. She’s still around.
      4. All the children leave and are on their own, allowing the garden to go fallow for a time until a new pixy clan comes in. That Jenks is gifting his garden to Jumoke is very unusual.

  11. Bobbomb

    Hello Kim,
I just want to say I love the hollows series, and I have been addicted to it since the first. I started late, so I got to catch up quickly, as well as buying APB as soon as it hit shelves, now I’m waiting for the next one with so much anticipation.

Alright, now for my speculations/comments/and such:

For one, I know you have all but denied it, but I’ve always been a believer of Rachel and Ivy being together, the reasons are quite a few, and I’m sorry, but I have to list them. For one, I’ve always liked the best-friend-turned-lover situations, mainly because that is how I got many of my relationships, but I must say, Rachel and Ivy have just such a dynamic between each other that no other two characters have.

Rachel and Ivy have this relationship, this comfortably together that just seems so natural. Not even Rachel/Al or Rachel/Trent have this. No offense to the people in their camps. But I believe that Rachel just doesn’t trust the two to fully get into full relationships with them. Flings of course, but lets face it, she hasn’t had the best choices on her men, and I believe she is smart enough to know this.

The fact that Rachel finally trusts Ivy fully is another reason. The only other person she trusts as much as Ivy is Jenks, and I personally believe that Jenks has a new mate in Belle, despite the pixy-fairy feud. Near the end of PD, when Ivy and Rachel kiss, I believe it is the most profound emotional moment to Rachel since Kristen’s death. I believe that was when Rachel felt her true feelings, not just as a realization that Ivy was pouring her heart into that kiss, which kept her vampire nature down.

Another, and probably most important part is the fact of Rachel saving Ivy’s soul. Personally, I have about a 90% belief that I am correct. The way that Rachel saves Ivy’s soul is that Rachel, as a female demon, can take souls into her body. the signification of that is that she can remove Ivy’s soul near death, then return it back again.

Now this connection, that Rachel (in my mind’s eye of how it will play out) taking Ivy’s soul into herself that will complete the connection. I know, for a fact, that Ivy isn’t fully over Rachel, and I believe that deep down inside, Ivy is still in love with Rachel, and her “moving on” is her way of coping with the fact that Rachel will not acknowledge this.

When (again in my mind’s eye) Rachel takes Ivy’s soul into her, she is able to see that fact fully, that Ivy truly loves her, and will never fully give up that hope. I truly do not think that Ivy’s HEA cannot be with anyone but the person she has loved since the beginning. That is one of the few things that has always been a constant in the whole series, is Ivy’s crush/love of Rachel, and when Ivy’s soul is inside Rachel, the strongest bond any two people could possibly have, she will realize this, and the fact that her own reaction to Ivy’s kiss is her true feelings.

Sorry for rambling on, but I’ve been holding these thoughts in since DWW, and after reading APB, looking for some confirmation, any that my thoughts were correct, that I had to write this small essay.

Again, I love your books, and I hope they never end, or at least that the hollows universe doesn’t I hope you continue it with all new characters after you have completed the Rachel Morgan saga. I would love to see some more aspects of the Hollows Universe.

Thank you if you read all this,
    a true fan,
    Bobbomb

    • Hi Bob. You are not alone in thinking that Rachel and Ivy were meant for each other, and if the series had ended earlier, it might have gone that way, but now . . . Rachel has evolved into someone who doesn’t need Ivy for her survival, and Ivy needs that. As far as saving Ivy’s soul? That’s for book 13. I’ve got a couple of ways to do it. The one that makes the most sense when we get there is the one I’m going to use. Hope you like it! I’m aiming for happy endings.

      • Bobbomb

I just want to say thank you for replying Kim, It’s always a boon when an author takes time to respond to questions from her/his/their fans. Anything you write, whatever the outcome, I know I’ll love, I haven’t been hooked since the first book just to stop now! But I do wonder when your done with the Rachel Morgan saga, will you continue to make stories in the Hollows Universe, or will you move on to something else? As I said before, I would love to see some more of the whole hollows world. The way you deal with urban fantasy is well thought out and very immersible. I’ve spent hours, nay days, reading the books, and hope that you continue the legacy! thank you again for reading this.
        -Bobbomb

      • It’s my pleasure, Bob. :-) After the Hollows, I’ve got something completely different. It’s already written, actually, just sitting in my cabinet, fermenting. :-) It’s got a lot of potential, and I don’t want to rush it.

  12. Talulah

    Hey Kim!
I have just one question: When do you want to publish the first chapters of EVER AFTER? I can´t wait to read them.. :D
    Best wishes from Germany!

    • EVER-AFTER will be out earlier this year in the US, Talulah. January 22. I hope that you guys in Germany also get that early release. Fingers crossed!

      • Talulah

I hope so too, but I actually meant the first five chapters. I remember that last year you released the first chapters of A Perfect Blood before the book was officially available in the bookstores. Are you going to do that again?

      • Martin

I think this is a choice the publisher makes, as a marketing tactic. Speaking for myself, I don’t want a sneak peek at anything, preferring to not see any of it until I can hold it in my hot little hands and read it ALL, uninterrupted.
        Martin

      • Hi Talulah. I think so. It seemed to have a great reception last year.

    • Talulah

I know what you mean Martin, but I just can´t wait !
      Talulah

  13. Would there be any possibility of a scene with Alice in the EA?…. Or would Rachel never allow that?… hmmm.

    Have a great day!!!

  14. Kim you’re killing me! A Perfect Blood was amazing as usual, but everytime Rachel would bring up some memory of Kisten my heart just hurt, man I miss him, almost as much as Rachel i think. Also at the end of PD the looming question seemed to be who would Rachel end up with Al or Trent I was hoping Perfect Blood would have given way to answering that question and was a bit dismayed when I got to the end and the giant question mark as to which way she would go still loomed in the future, I feel like she could still go either way really or even a different direction entirely truthfully, but I’m certainly excited to go on that adventure with her! Waiting with baited breath for the next one!! Thank you so much!
    Erin

    • See, when I got done reading APB I thought it was obvious that she’s gonna get with Trent…

      • I know what you’re saying and saw all the things that would make you feel this way but for me I just didn’t because of a lot of little things that Rachel would say about Trent always slipping back into his buisness man persona, and what Trent said to her about not changing cause he is a bastard, also his relationship with Ceri even though not romantic it is made out of concern for the girls and his reputation as a public figure, him being with Rachel would miss that up because of her reputation and being a demon. I think with her finally accepting her nature as a Demon and stepping up to what that means for her and her friends and family, I feel like that is what opened the door wide open again for Al, a demon for a demon her accepting what she is and being with someone who understands her the best and who cares about her whether he lets on all the time or not, he’s not anymore of a bastard then Trent is sometimes. Anyway that is why I feel the question is still up in the air and the possibility of her going a completely different way is still an option.

    • Hi Erin. I was kind of hoping that that question would be answered by the end of PALE DEMON as well. Sigh. I hope you like the next one!

  15. rachel

    Hey Kim,

I would love to start by sying how much I love your Rachel Morgan series. I have read them all and enjoyed them very much to the point I couldnt put it down. My favorite out of all of the characters would have to be Al!!!! :) :) I can hardly wait till your next bookcomes out. So here is my question, why is it so difficult for Rachel to trust Al a little bit better because it seems hes helped her so much? I know he tried to kill her but that was piscary plan to get rid of her was it not?

  16. Tina

    Hi there Kim,
I just finished reading A Perfect Blood and it was my favorite one so far. :) After reading it though, i was wondering if Winona is now a demon. It seemed that at the start she didn’t have a lot of magic power, and then after her “altering” she had quite a bit more power. Also, after Rachel turned her back, her eyes remained the same, demon like. I was just wondering because I really liked Winona and I hope there is more of her in the future novels.
Thanks and have a great day!

    • Becky

      Hi Tina,

I’m sure Winona is still a witch. I thought Al explained that all witches had the potential to look like that.

    • Hi Tina. Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it! Winona was never a demon. When Chris looked at her blood, there was almost no difference between before and after the curse. She had the ability to do magic before, simply never used. I don’t think we’ll see Winona again.

      • Tina

That’s too bad, but thanks for your response, Kim, and thank you too Becky, I think I understand now.

      • lulubird6

Dang! I was hoping that her and Al would hook up, what with her liking her goaty eyes and all. I also imagined Pierce/Vivian, Jenks/Belle, Ivy/Rynn. I don’t know why I have a bad habit of matchmaking! Anyway so fun to see why people theorize about their favorite pairings!

  17. Nicole

    Hi Kim!

Just a few questions, please. 1. In the kitchen scene with wayde, wasn’t he talking about sleeping with him? I’ve seen a few questions about it, and thought he was hitting on her? 2. You previously wrote a sex scene with wayde that got cut out, right? So if a sex scene shows up in the next book that “you have been wanting to write” will it be this one come back or a new one? I know you probably can’t answer this, but I’ll ask it just the same. 3. Will wayde be in the next book? I seem to remember reading something about him leaving after getting beaten up. Most of these questions are from my confusion after reading posts on the drama box, not from just reading lol. 4. And for the random question. Do you go by Kim or Dawn when you are at home? Or maybe Kim when you are writing? Just wondered how it works when you have two names :)

Thanks for writing my favorite books, and for answering my questions! With all thus confusion you just might need a book 14. I’m sure the bunny would agree :)

    Nicole

    • Hi Nicole. I’m so glad you are enjoying the books. Thank you! You had some questions.
      1. Yes. He was testing the waters.
      2. I might use parts of the kitchen sex scene, but probably not the entirety of it.
      3. Wayde is the guy who got cut for this one. sniff, sniff. He didn’t leave because he got beat up. He left because Rachel took her bracelet off, and he wasn’t needed.
      4. I am Dawn, because that’s my name, but when I’m doing an event, it’s easier to answer to Kim to avoid confusion. It’s like being called Mom by your kids. No one is ever confused about that! Although, I do have a few people around town who remember my pen name better than my real one, and it always throws me when they call me Kim out of context.

  18. Jo

    Jo.

    Hi Kim,

Just want to say that here in freezing cold England ,for the past 3 months your books have been keeping me toasty warm. Someone at work suggested them and after about the first few chapters I was hooked and am currently reading Black Magic Sanction and can’t believe I’ve nearly read them all already!!!! Its going to feel like I’ve lost a close relative when it ends and I have to wait for the next book.

I love the Tinker Bell slander running through all the books it just makes me giggle and the thought that all humans are scared of tomatoes, just like one of my kids, classic!!

Most of all I just love, Rachel, Ivy and Jenks, they make the perfect family, I must admit to being a bit of a, lets get Rachel and Ivy together fan, always thinking it was always more of a problem for Rachel and not really all Ivys’ blood and sex issues, but you could see how it would all end in tears and its always really scary to take a relationship to the next level, believing and hoping its going to work but hey , I love the jealous rivalry that is creeping into Black Magic Sanction, I’m not all the way through yet, so I’m trying not to read too many posts.

Well I’m well and truly hooked and Im looking forward to the rest of the series and thanks.

    • Hi Jo. Wow! I love hearing stories like that! I’m so glad that you are enjoying the books so much. I agree that Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks have a perfect family thing going. The love there is obvious, but things evolve, people grow. And it isn’t a fairy tale ending where there’s no heartbreak at all. Gotta have a little pain.

  19. Melissa

    Hi Kim,
I have a few more questions after re-reading some more of the books. I wasn’t sure whether to post on the spoiler page since it’s not about Perfect Blood in particular, but I didn’t want to ruin anything for anyone with spoilers on your “Ask Kim” page…

1- I’m not sure why Trent released Ku Sox in Pale Demon.. did I miss it? Was something specifically pointed out that I missed, or are we assuming we thought he needed the help? Trent says he “has it under control” and that the demon is part of his elf quest… but I’m not sure what he was intended to help him with? Just get to Seattle and help keep him safe?

2- Will we see more of Pierce? He’s my favorite, and I feel like Rachel is too hard on him. But it is what it is :) I just hope he doesn’t turn into a “bad person” like Nick.

3- What is your new series about? I keep seeing reference to Peri. Is there more information online somewhere?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Melissa. You bet. This is okay.
      1. He released him because the only person who had a chance to banish him was Rachel, and he knew they would call her back and acknowledge that her threat was less than their fear of her. (she was allowed back into society.)
      2. Perhaps. I can’t imagine he would be like Nick at all. The man has a noble streak in him.
      3. Too soon to tell. It won’t be out for years. So silence is my motto right now.

      • Martin

Re: #3 Kim is cruel like that ;<)

      • Melissa

        Thanks!
I thought I missed something on the Peri thing. Just saw people referencing it and I couldn’t find anything on it!
And thanks for answering number 1. I actually re read PD parts last night, and caught a glimpse of this somewhere but I wasn’t sure because I caught a portion where Rachel was watching TV and saw craziness happening in Seattle and she thought it was a demon and not Jenks at work.. so I thought maybe he was doing that.

        Thanks again!

  20. Mary

For your new series (Peri and crew?) will it be under Kim Harrison or Dawn Cook or some other name? Rachel Morgan maybe? :) …just kidding. I usually get Amazon announcements on soon to be releases and I didn’t want to miss it if you decide to use a different name for a different genre.

  21. valerieohio

When it comes to Al ripping Rachel’s throat out and leaving her for dead…. Can’t we just let bygones be bygones?…. Hmmmm? :/

    • Zeenat

LOL that’s a pretty big bygone ;) Of course, I’m still wrestling with the fact that Trent bashed in Rachel’s head against the tombstone . . . my “cognitive dissonance” reasoning is he had PTSD from the trauma of Ever-after. LOL

      • valerieohio

I loved the thought of Trent and Rachel until what was it like yhe seventh book and tgere were subtle shifts in Al’ charactet that really interested me.

I thought his constant whining in that book was more tiresime then the whole tombstone bashing. *shrug*

      • valerieohio

Sorry about all the typos… Posted from my phone. I don’t have mad texting skills.

    • Val, I know you love Al! :-) You’re going to really like Ever-after. Good Al stuff in there.

    • Lesley

LOL I agree…I mean, pretty much every man in Rachel’s life has tried to kill her at some point (even if indirectly, like Kisten). I think Pierce has the cleanest slate…and Jenks….*g* I’m still mad at Trent on Rachel’s behalf over the rat fights (and was happy to see that she still was too, even as late as APB). Al…was just doing a job. ;) Now that Trent has pulled her ass out of the fire, he’s to be forgiven, but Al isn’t? Even though he’s saved her bacon a few times himself?
(Am I the only one who would love a Jenks/Rachel pair? Hell, I love just about all the men in the Hollows novels. Except the rat, of course.)

      • lulubird6

ha! I was thinking Jenks is the only man in her life who loves her unconditionally and has always been there for her. Too bad he has those annoying pixy-tendencies that got on her nerves and is only 4 inches tall!

  22. Lindsey Fussell

I am a huge fan and have been following your series for the last 8 years. I love your books!

Anyway, from reading some of the other posts, 1) it’s safe to assume demon and elf magic are one in the same? 2) sine Rachel has helped Trent fix the elven genome, does this mean they can perform demon magic too? Or can only both magics be performed by a demon?
    3) Also, since demons can do both types of magic, does that mean demons and elves can naturally have children with each other? (it obviously hasn’t been tried in such a long time bc of the war, so they would not remember).

    • Thank you, LIndsey. I’m so glad that you are enjoying the books! You’ve got some questions.
      1. Elves can do much of demon magic, yes, and demons can do all of elven, as they can do most witch magic. But demons won’t lower themselves to do wild magic. Elven and demon are not the same, though. Not by a long shot.
      3. I don’t know, to tell you the truth, but I would think they could. They are demons and elves. You don’t say no to either species.

  23. Janine

hiya! quick question. how do you think trent’s reaction would be if Wayde and Rachel get it in? curiousity hit me again

  24. candy

    Hi kim,
I love the series and cant wait for the next book. I know in APB you somewhat explained what sa’han meant but my questions are; why does trent think he is rachels sa’han? Furthermore what are the multitude meanings of sa’han and mal sa’han? I’m sure someone else has asked you this already but i couldnt find the post.
Thank you for being an awesome author that takes interest in her fans!!

    • Thank you, Candy. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the series! Mal Sa’han is a higher term of respect that denotes an emotional attachment, a deeper connection. But the term Sa’han can be used for a formal arrangement of protection all the way to a simple term of respect. It’s a lot like Sir.

  25. I just finished reading A Perfect Blood last night and loved it like I do all of the Rachel books. It would have been sooner but it was on my moms kindle and she was reading something as well. Anyway, I loved the scenes with Trent. (Some of this I said on your FB page but I didn’t want to post spoilers) I just kept hoping they would kiss in the elevator! I honestly didn’t see him as a love interest until Pale Demon. I loved how Rachel finally had the pool table fixed it only took her forever! I liked Wayde most of the time but he has a thing or two to learn about Rachel. I watched your Q&A thing with Patricia Briggs and I agree with you about Nick that is a character I would not mind seeing you kill off and honestly part of me hopes it is by Rachel’s hand after everything that he did to her.
    So just a few questions:
Is there any chance we will see Kisten again? Like maybe as a ghost just to get Rachel a bit more closure? Sort of like I want you to be happy go and be happy type of thing.
When is the next book due out? I apologize if you have posted this somewhere already, I just really love the series and cannot wait for the next book.
Is Ray the full name of Ceri’s daughter or is it short for something else?
Is Wayde a possible love interest for Rachel since I don’t think she quite realizes her feelings for Trent nor his feelings for her yet?
And lastly, I am as excited as a little kid on Christmas about The Hollows coming to the small screen, hopefully anyway! Thank you for writing such amazing and addictive books!

    • Hi Kat. Thanks! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books. You had some questions.
      1. No, Kisten is dead and won’t be coming back.
      2. Next book is due out January 22. It has been moved up in the schedule. Ever-after is the title.
      3. Ray is her full name.
      4. Anything is possible with Rachel! ;-)
      5. Thanks! I’m excited, too.

  26. Charlotte

Hi KIm! I love these books and will be sad to see them end, but I have a great idea for a new series! Rachel and Trent belong together ( everyone knows this deep down) and they should have babies, I’m sure Trent can figure this out, and their kids would make great characters for a series, plus we could maybe stay in touch with Rachel, Trent, Uncle Jenks and Aunt Ivy this way!

    • Thank you, Charlotte. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books. :-) I need to stretch my writing muscles, and working with Rachel won’t do it. I think you’ll like Peri and crew. I know I do!

  27. Hi Kim! Thank you very much for answering my previous questions.
    I thought up one more:
    - Why doesn’t Rachel see Al as… a man? I get that she doesn’t know he’s got a thing for her, but it’s sad that she’s not even aware of the possibility…

    • I don’t know, Gea. Maybe because he tore her throat out and left her to die when they first met?

      • Talulah

But that was nothing personal. Lee left Rachel on his casinoboat to die. Why did she forgive him but not Al?
Sorry for my english. I love your books!
        Greetings from Germany ;)

  28. Julie B

Much love for the Trent & Rachel bonding – kept the giggles coming :)
I know there are plenty of people wanting to read about Al & Rachel having a thing, granted it would be fun & hot to read about but..
I would like to see Rachel & Trent hook up as there is so much sexual tension/tension you could cut it with a knife, I kind of want them to shag to release some of the tension then take it from there wether it turns into a proper relationship or just something they had to get pass to better their relationship.
My question is if you had a choice which would hook up would you love to write??

  29. Mary

Kim, I initially picked up DWW by chance and had to go on with the story to figure out what happens next…I am still thrilled with trying to figure out where you are going with the story! Fortunately I came to your books late so I could catch up fast. I hope by the end the questions will be answered.

Some of the story lines I felt were hanging were:
    1. Why is Ivy scared of Rachel’s magic? Was it because she saw Piscary without his “youth” charm? :) She seems to have been around it enough by now to be okay with it…and yet she dropped the finding curse charm.
    2. Ivy has a need to nurture, I would wonder why she wouldn’t come to terms with the nature/life of a vamp and get married to some nice strong guy and start a family. Sort of coming to terms with who she is. She likes strong men like David and Glenn.
    3. It seems to me saving Ivy’s soul would work best with Trent’s putting a soul in a bottle. That crazy soul took over Rachel fast enough when she accidentally released it at Al’s.
    4. I got the feeling you were hiding Nick in HAPA since he knows so much about Inderland workings. I wondered if he isn’t some kind of Norman from the Psycho movie. He mentions his mother but I don’t remember her actually meeting Rachel. I know he grew up in the Hollows because of her.
    5. When the Elf Porn Statue came up I thought it was the secret to getting Newt to mating and making a baby without her killing the guy – sort of like having a spotter to prevent things going too far. I figured Trent didn’t want this out where demons could remember/save their species.
    6. In APB Belle gets fabric from a sister for Jenks’ coat, does Biz fly her over at night to visit with her family when the son goes down? She hopped on his tail in APB when they were on the fridge.
    7. When it is cold I am surprised Rachel doesn’t have Jenks and Belle swollow a “get big” curse for a quick change if necessary rather than waiting for a reason to take the curse.

    • Hi Mary. Wow, I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the books so much! You have a lot of questions, so I’ll get right to it. Some of them I just can’t answer! :-)
      1. Ivy is afraid of being out of control, and she feels magic does that. 2. That sounds like a different story than the one I’m writing. 3. That is an option, yes. 4. He was originally in that book, but I took him out in the editorial rewrite. :-) 5. Nope. I wasn’t headed that way at all! 6. No. Sorry. That doesn’t happen. 7. And who would take the smut for it?

  30. Hi Kim, I just finished APB. Quite late I know, but life kept interfering. It was a pleasure as always. More than a pleasure. It was frightening to see that humans could be more evil than demons. Thank you for pointing that out.

I read all the posts here, but this can’t be all. I remember at least three pages of spoilers page before. So, where is the old posts? I don’t want to repeat any question and take your time. If this is all though, then I’ll post my questions here.

  31. valerieohio

    Random thought:

“Al sleeps in the nude… That’s hot.”

  32. Ramona

    Hi Kim,
i have only one question. I think it wasn´t questioned yet, because it is not really important – and i doesn´t know if you can answer it, but i wonder about that since BMS:
Fairies believe in the goddess, but the rest of the inderlanders in god? If yes – Why?

    • Ramona, that’s a really big question. I’m going to pass on that one.

      • Ramona

Hm, i think the old ones (like elves, demons, pixies and fairies) should believe in the goddess, and only weres and vamps (and of course humans) in god? Have a nice day! :-)

  33. Hi Kim!
I thought up a couple questions about demon society and biology that I’d like to ask you…
1- Do demons usually mate for life? Or, well, did they, when there were demonesses around?
2- Do demons have strong instincts, like vampires do? I’m thinking more about auras (and such) than smells, though…
    Thank you!

  34. Toni

So even if we want to see a Rachel and Al thing, how would that be possible? Didn’t Newt threaten to kill Al if he does the nasty with Rachel?
    Thank you

  35. Ginny

    Hi Kim
I hope you don’t mind answering some questions.
1.While writing Trent’s POV in the upcoming novella, did it give you a deeper understanding of where he was coming from?
2.Also on the topic of Trent’s novella, will we learn anything new from Trent regarding Rachel?
3.In an earlier book, Al makes it known that Pierce liked it rough.(can’t remember the wording)Was this Al teasing Pierce/Rachel or was he serious?
4.Why are the elves in hiding in the first place?
5.Although it wasn’t mentioned in earlier books, I’m curious if Jonathan approved of the marriage of Trent/Ellasbeth?
6.I know the tread with the weres is finished but I’m curious if we will see the were leader that blamed Rachel for his mates death?
7.Did Trent hire Nick after she pulled a line through him and disappeared shortly after?I know Trent hired him but not when?
8.How do other people(men who don’t belong) know about the rip in the lines that Rachel made?
9.You’ve stataed in another post that Trent has been thinking a lot lately of the power pull Rachel could do. Is Rachel also thinking about this?
10.Will you please give us something for the Ever After? Some hint, nugget, anything that we don’t know about Ever After?
11.Will Al tell any other demon about Trent being Rachel’s Saahan?
    Thanks Kim

    • Hi Ginny. Wow, you’ve got a lot of questions!
      1. Yes, of course.
      2. No, she was on his mind, but not that much.
      3.He was teasing.
      4. Because they had a history of stealing human babies and leaving their own dying children.
      5. Yep.
      6. No.
      7. I don’t know when, either
      8. They have been watching Inderlanders since we went from BC to AD. They know a lot.
      9. No, not especially.
10 No. You’ll have to wait.
      11 I don’t think he’d bother, no.
      You are welcome.

  36. I

I’m biased because I’m meh on Nina the same way I see Peirce as only a side character. I like Glen, but Ivy needs someone all to herself. Any way that she meets Elsphbeth when she comes back to town and they get together? Then Ivy can move into Trent’s compound too.

  37. Raven W.

hey kim! i was wondering what made you decide to kill minias off? was there a deeper meaning to it or was he of no use anymore? Will we ever find out how Newt killed him? Where the heck did it happen, did the other demons find his body?….okay i guess that question grew a lil bit…sorry :3 tee hee.

    • Raven W.

oh and will we be meeting other demons in the next book or atleast demons from the past…(you probably know by now who my fav. characters are…tee hee) ^-^ I was really sad about not seeing a lot of Al in a perfect blood but when we did see him it was incredible! well done!!! ^-^ cant wait for more!

    • kelsey

      Hi Kim,
I’ve noticed a question of mine hasn’t been awnsered is Rachel going to find a way to save Ivys soul? I hope she does. And go team Trent!!

      • Kelsey, I generally don’t even see questions nestled under other people’s questions, so maybe that’s why I’ve missed yours. Rachel finding a way to save Ivy’s soul is one of my goals, so yes. :-)

      • kelsey

cool! I meant other people havent asked that question yet. I love this series i cant wait for the next book to come out.

    • Hi Raven. Until we see the body, I’m not going to say he’s dead, but yeah, he’s dead. :-) If he was an important character, we would have seen it, but he’s not, so . . . there it is.

  38. Nina

Hi Ms. Harrison, I want to thank you for all the wonderful books in the Hollows series – I inhaled all 10 of them in about a week on my Kindle and can’t wait for the next ones! Also thank you for being so available to your readers, though I hope it doesn’t take too much time away from your writing :)

Quick question which I hope hasn’t been asked before – will David ever see Rachel Were?

    • Thank you, Nina. I really appreciate that! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books.
I love being able to be this accessible to the readers, and I hope I can continue to do so for a while yet. It does take a significant time from my writing, but you guys are worth it.
David see Rachel Were? I’ll have to think about that.

  39. valerieohio

This is on my “Al Playlist”… Yes I have playlist paying homage to my Ally Cakes. I listened to it this morning while getting my cardio on.

“And I’ll find strength in pain…. And I need FREEDOM NOW!”

It’s a beautiful song and I think you’ll really enjoy it. Hope you can take the time to lean back and turn it up. xoxo, Val-OH

  40. Anne

In an earlier book when Rachel broke in and stole the statue with nick/ivy and Jenks, she said something like ” at least Trent’s horse likes me”

was that just a line or was that her kind of thinking/saying that it bothered her that Trent seemed to hate/dislike her the way that he did?

  41. Carlie

    Hi Kim,

I was reading the questions about the curse to fix Trent. What will happen to the smiley face mark that he got from the emancipation curse?

  42. Stephanie Davies

    Hello Kim,

First, I would like to say that your books are AWESOME!! Second, why does Rachel feel that Ivy and Jenks are “moving on” from her just because they are “moving on” in their lives? I’m wondering if this feeling is what causes some readers to hold on to the Ivy/Rachel pairing…thinking that as long as that union is possible, then Rachel wouldn’t be feeling left behind…. I guess I’m just curious why Rachel is making “moving on” equivalent to “left behind”? Thanks and Take Care

    • Hi Stephanie. I’m not sure if I can really answer this. So much of what I put on the paper is meant to be vague, and I can’t really give a solid answer. But the world is seen through Rachel’s eyes, which makes it both very personal, and somewhat bias.

      • I got the impression that it’s really Rachel that is changing the most but she just doesn’t see it or isn’t ready to admit it. She has grown and changed more than any one else in the series. She has gone from a little white earth witch to a a new force of nature as her story is told.

I have a feeling that the key to saving Ivy’s soul is going to be related to the curses used by Rachel to make Jenks big/small and allow her to Were.

        V^^^^V

  43. Christina

    Hey Kim,
about Trent and Jenks’ upcoming novella, (so excited!) how difficult/ easy was it, getting into Trent’s mind and pov?
Just curious, thanks for taking the time. :D

  44. Sabrina

In PD when Rachel walks into a naked Trent in the shower. She looks down and thinks nice feet.
Seriously, she has been daydreaming about him since day 1/book 1 and then she sees him naked and thinks nice feet?

    • I’m sorry, Sabrina. Was there a question in there for me, or just an observation?

      • he had a towel around his waist at the feet peeping point of the shower scene. He was completely naked at the beginning and she froze looking him at his face and not down, so Rachel has not seen him naked . . . Technically. Trent can not say the same about her though. FUNNY!

  45. Sarah

Yeah it was mentioned in the book that a curse to fix his hand would likely also fix his ears ;) can’t wait to see that scene!

  46. Linda (germany)

    Hey Kim.
I’m not quite sure if I have asked this before, so I simply ask again. Will we see some more scenes of Ivy’s family?
And will we ever find out why Glee has moved? I don’t really like him anymore. And that’s only because I don’t understand his actions.

I’m rereading the books again, and right now I’m on book two. Was it really necessary for the story that Ivy has been raped? –hope the grammar is correct here :D – Or was it just for the drama and the bond between her and Rachel? Well, actually my question is, how this scene came into your mind.

    Best love from Germany,
    Linda

    • Hi Linda. We won’t see more of Ivy’s family, no, but Glenn moved for Daryl sake (health reasons) and for his own. (He doesn’t trust his employer anymore)

Your grammar is spot on, yes, and it was. I wanted to show how ugly the world is that Ivy lives in, and I think that did it.

  47. Carlie

I was just wondering about a few things from APB. Will we find out where Trent got the Demon blood from? Also I’m a little confused about the curse Trent used. So it’s Elven magic, that uses Demon blood to invoke it? Is this right? Why would the Elves have a curse from their magic that needs the blood of their enemies to invoke?

    • Hi Carlie. He probably got it from Lee, I’m thinking, if he needed any. Elf magic and demon overlap a great deal. Demons can do elf magic, but they don’t because they think elves are “animals.”

  48. Ellie

    Hi, Kim!
    I was wondering… if Rachel fixes Trent’s fingers…
will he get cute elf ears???
Waiting for this next book is going to be agonizing!

  49. Sarah

ok just popping back in for another quick question!

so theres been some talk of having rachel ‘bump uglies’ with someone maybe in the next book to break her dry spell soooo… i got to wondering is trent a possibility for that?? :) now that wouldn’t have to mean afterward they suddenly decide to date right away, it could just start out as a little fling.. so are you against that kim or is that something that if it happens, would be a long way off? cuz i think it would be awesoooooome!!

    • I hear you, Sarah. I don’t like going this long without a sex scene, and actually had one in APB, but I took out the guy in a rewrite, and so it went away. Kitchen sex, it was, and I’m trying to work that back in with someone else. Make of that what you will. :-)

      • valerieohio

        I hope it’s you’re working with… But I know it’s not… Sad. :(

      • valerieohio

        “Al” you’re working with… Sheesh!

      • Sarah

yeah my 2 picks for that are definately trent and then al. but at this point i just can’t see her getting freaky with anyone but those 2, or maaaaybe wayde for just a fling. but as much as i loooove al, im not even sure if she’d be willing yet to go there with him. trent however…i can see that but i don’t think it would automatically lead to a relationship..yet. :)

    • Jan V

She might not be willing to go there with Al…yet
But she sure likes to check out his package. Can’t blame the girl. I’d be looking too (wink)

  50. Janine

    Hi Kim!!
i was reading some of the recent questions and got to one that made me curious. one fan asked you about Wayde’s comment of sex changing people and you answered that he was trying to get Rachel in the sack . . . does he like Rachel? or was i reading that with a sick twist in my mind?
    Thank you for answering!
    Janine

    • Martin

Wayde is a guy; he tries to get every attractive young woman into the sack!

    • Hi Janie. Oh, he likes her, yes, but more of a happy diversion kind of thing, ships that pass in the night. Nothing everlasting, and Rachel knows that. She isn’t apposed to a relationship like that, but she’d rather concentrate on something with a longterm potential.

  51. Lisa

    Hi Kim,
I had a few questions as to what to expect for Ever After.
1.Will we find out why Rachel’s dad insisted on her working alone, when we know that he worked with Trent’s dad and now to find out that he also worked with Trent’s mom?
2.Will we find out more of Trent’s secrets in this book?
3.Will we find out why Trent wants Rachel to work for him?
4 Are we going to see how the demons react to Trent/Rachel?
5.Will Glenn be in this book at all?
6.Will Ellasbeth and Pierce be in this book?
7.Will we see a more open Rachel this book in regards to relationships? Is she now ready to move on?
Sorry Kim, I guess a few questions turned to 7.So excited to read Ever After!!

    • Hi Lisa. Let me see what I can answer.
      1. Probably not.
      2. a few.
      3. No.
      4. Not in this book, but later, yes.
      5. Ahhh, no. I don’t think so
      6. Yep. Ellasbeth has a few issues to work out with Trent.
      7. Gosh, that is my intent, yes.

  52. treadupon68

    Hello Kim,

A friend recently recommended The Hollows series; I’m hooked! I love that the characters change throughout the series, rather than repeatedly make the same mistakes or ponder the same dilemma for umpteen books. While anxiously awaiting the next books in the series I’ve been re-reading the published books, especially the Trent-Rachel scenes. Over. And over. Love those electronic “bookmarks”. Two questions:

1.) Any chance that we will see a Rachel-Lee temporary pairing? If only because Trent and Lee (Stanley Saladan) have been so competitive since childhood, and if Lee notices any interest in Rachel from Trent he might be tempted to make a game of it. And because Rachel & Lee are two of a kind.

2.) What is your opinion of FanFiction?

    Thank You,
    Liz

    • Hi Liz. Thank you! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the books so much! You asked about a Rachel/Lee hookup? Probably not. Lee has a wife now, and I don’t think he’s going to screw it up since he seems to be in love with her.
As for fan fiction? I know it’s out there, but I don’t read it. I don’t like the idea, though I know a lot of authors get their start with it.

  53. Melissa

    Hi Kim,
I have 2 more questions now that I’ve read the book again :)
    1. Chapter 20: When Wayde says “Sex changes people more than wars” and then hesitates to collect his thoughts after Rachel asks him what sex has to do with it… What was on Wayde’s mind? Was he thinking Rachel and Trent were having sex and that’s why Rachel was talking about Trent and saying she trusts him?
    2. Chapter 21: When Trent is at the church, Jenks says “he had three spells going when I broke into his spell hut and caught him trying to-” and Trent interrupted him… what did Jenks catch him trying to do??
    Thanks :)

    • Hi Melissa. Oh, he was trying to get Rachel in the sack, no doubt about it, and we will never know what Trent was doing. :-) Sorry!

    • Diva

Good questions Melissa. For #2, I always thought that Trent was working on locator spells to find Rachel but he interrupted Jenks b/c he didn’t want Rachel to know how hard he had been looking for her. And since Kim isn’t sure herself, I think that leaves it open for us readers to fill in the gaps ourselves. So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. :-)

      • Diva, that is what I figured also… Trent is still very closed off to Rachel. He is not ready for her know just how much he cares for her… NOT YET, but soon maybe!!!

  54. Chrstine

I LOVE Ivy and Rachel and really hope they end up together. Please explore this more!

    • Thank you, Christine. I really appreciate that! I don’t see Rachel and Ivy together for their HEAs, but it’s not over until the book is on the shelf. :-)

      • Melissa

I think Rachel and Ivy have a beautiful friendship, but I don’t feel they’re each other’s HEAs either.

      • Diva

Plus, I think that Kim has already done a pretty good job exploring that possibility. Rachel spent a good deal of the early books working through her feelings on the matter.

      • Martin

Any “Happily Ever After” for either of them wouldn’t be real if they aren’t still friends. Jenks too. My opinion.

  55. KC

May we get an early synopsis of the next Hollow book?

  56. Janine

    Hi ms Kim!
i was wondering of why in the end of PD Rachel says shes frightened by discovering that Trent had liked the kiss they had shared. and then again she says that he is starting to scare her again in APB? why does he scare her now?
    thanks!
    -Janine

  57. Melissa

    Hi Kim,
I just finished reading APB, after reading the entire series the past few weeks. I was trying to find something to read that was a series, and I’m so happy I came upon this series. I think your writing is very well done, especially considering how fast you seem to turn around the stories. Sometimes I’ve noticed other writers “forgetting” some of their plot lines.. but I feel as if you have things pretty well mapped out and I really enjoyed myself. Not sure how I can wait until next year.

I really like Kisten and Pierce. I’m surprised that many people didn’t seem to like Pierce. But.. I’m pretty much on board with Trent if that works out somehow, especially now that we’ve seen a new side to him.

I only have one question right now, I tried to see if someone asked already, so I apologize if it is a repeats.

    1. I didn’t completely understand why Rachel wasn’t effected by the memory drug?

    Thank you,

    • Thank you, Melissa. I’m so glad that you are enjoying the books so much! The memory drug at the end of A PERFECT BLOOD didn’t work because she did a demon charm ahead of time so it wouldn’t.
